How did you center the two parts together before you drilled and taped the holes? Regarding the missing tooth, it needs to be 50 degrees btdc. I'm not sure how that relates to the keyway.

I build and sell them with wiring harness for many different engines, but I'm not cheap. If you can make your own harness, you can buy an assembled ms from several places for a lot less. I am in the 951 area.

The only one I did was a year or so back. It was a v2.2 ms setup with edis. Yours will be better in that you will have a rev limiter function.

Actually the v3 board only has one vb921 coil driver in it. You have the choice of adding three more which requires mounting, and wiring, or using external igniter modules which is easier. If you were to have cop's with built in drivers like the 6 cylinder subaru I just did with a wasted spark...

Sorry, I don't know if the vvti wheel will bolt on the earlier 1uz. I have found on several different engines that the vr sensors are usually compatible with edis. The motor I used was the marine one .It has vvt heads and early strong 1uz rods.

You can, if you remove the trigger wheel, and tig weld up on another tooth. You also have to file a new notch for the key to reindex it. Then it will work with edis. This is how I did it.

When they went to vvti, they put in lighter and weaker rods. The marine 1uz has vvti, and the earlier rods. This info came from the fellow that did the r&d on the marine engine.

The sds cost quite a bit more than a megasquirt, and doesn't have half the capabilities. M/S is not as simple to set up as the sds, but the forums provide better support than any vendor I know of. I usually have under 200 bucks in one when I"m finished. You may spend a bit more to pay someone...

You can buy a ms1 v2.2 assembled for 240 from diyautotune . That and edis parts from the junkyard will work. If you use low impedence injectors, then you will also need the optional flyback board ($26).

I will be doing an earlier model jdm 1uz soon that comes with dual dissy's . After I sort it all out, I'll put up some info on how I did it, and what hardware is needed.

rods I spoke with some people at TRD last week, and they told me that the marine engine has the earlier rods.
