Justen,
Did you do any decompression on your current setup? I'm also thinking of installing turbo's on a stock motor. I don't want to boost it hard to make hp.
Gloverman did you lower the compression at all?
I am also thinking of adding a turbo and would like to know if a stock motor would handle 15psi with the correct fueling.
Thanks for the info.
We ran a [email protected]/h at a JHB altitude on Sunday.
The motor is still standard, box also standard. So far it held together very well.
Thanks XR8TT
I'm running a single fogger with 125hp jets and have a very good fuel pump.
so far there is no retard...
The car ran well but after the last run it developed a slight misfire when driving at part throttle.
I haven't pulled the plugs yet.
I want to go one step colder.....do you...
Thanks very much guys. Will start the hunt for one of these engines asap...
Just one last question.....Is the exhaust manifolds the same as the old 1UZ?
Ed,
I'm very keen on getting one. I just need to be very sure that I get the right engine. The guys like to bs you into buying there stuff they can't sell to anyone else.
I would rather be 110 percent sure than to make the mistake of buying the older engine.....
Hi guys,
May I ask a few question on this subject?
1. When was the production years of this 4.0 VVTI motor?
2. was it available in a front sump configuration?
3. HP ratings and where did it make power?
You must make sure that you give the motor enough fuel after 5000 rpm. We had the same problem on a turbo motor and it was the amount of fuel that was the problem.
When you alter the cams see if you can get stiffer valve springs to help with the higher rpm. I had the problem with a chevy that...
