Latest updates: Dump pipe is done but I'm ashamed of my welding so you'll only see pics once its wrapped Wastegate is a tight fit but its in, along with oil feed and return After replacing the thermostat o-ring and outlet (pin hole in the plastic) the cooling system is watertight and no leaks...

    Coolant Temp Sensor Calibration

The Haltech software allows infinite control over injection timing, and you can map in advance as the engine spins faster (and the window for injection gets smaller). You can also add in more rows and map it to any other input (TPS, MAP, etc). This was preconfigured in my map when I created it...

    Coolant Temp Sensor Calibration

Something I've found recently that should be shared... When setting up aftermarket ECU, there are often pre-configured tables you can use to align your coolant temp sensor reading with the actual temperature - effectively teaching the ECU how to read the sensor. In the case of a Haltech, you...

    Fuel lines set up

I think Gloverman has a video on fuel rails on the tube

No Crank issues either operating temp or real cold

Parasitic current draw. Something is drawing current when the vehicle is switched off and consuming the voltage. There are plenty of vids on youtube showing how to perform the test and identify the circuit with the issue. Either that, or you keep leaving the door ajar.

    Fuel lines set up

Returnless fuel systems normally have a pressure regulator built into the in-tank pump. You may suffer fuel starvation with the setup you have listed. I take it your Land Rover wasn't originally fuel injected... so, if it were me, I would run: Low Pressure Pickup Pump > Surge Tank > High...

Turns out the Volvo XC60 pump was stuffed so I picked up an Astra pump that works fine. Will hopefully make some brackets and mount it this weekend. Following that, all it needs is a dump pipe fitted and I can start it.

    Plus I also made this thing to convert each of the shifter positions into a variable voltage. I don't have enough inputs to the Haltech to run individual wires so this circuit takes 5V and changes is into: P = 0.6V R = 1.4V N = 2.2V D = 3.0V 2 = 3.8V 1 = 4.5V 0.0V and 5.0V are reserved to...

Slowly. I get to work on the car about one day a month. Not sure about the VVTi swap but I know there isn't much room to play on the driver's side thanks to the steering shaft. You will probably have the same issues as me with the sump, unless you have a custom sump made. I have made some...

    1uz dumping fuel from headers

I'd recommend you change the engine oil too - if the injector has been hosing fuel in, its likely a decent amount has gotten past the rings and into the sump. Petrol is not a good lubricant.

Standalone ECU haltech and 1uz wiring.

For all the excellent content Kelvin has produced over the years, IMO this latest one is not good - Its just reconfiguring multiple existing tune files and troubleshooting errors - and I think this vid would only serve to confuse anyone who is trying to setup a Haltech or the first time. There...

Good things take time and all that. Here are the latest pics. Charcoal canister and fuel filter mounted with heat sleeve applied liberally Power steering and coolant reservoirs mounted on a very solid bracket. Very itchy after all the thermal wrapping The drivers side couldn't go...

Standalone ECU haltech and 1uz wiring.

I used a Delco air temp sensor and the stock 1uz coolant temp sensor - there are config files for both of them

    Lexus LS400 Shift Points

The cable adjusts transmission line pressure, not kickdown. You should have a kickdown switch that is activated by the throttle pedal Check the kickdown switch is working properly Check your throttle position sensor signal at 100%

All cars will have a connector or harness in the engine bay that connects all engine to body input/output like oil pressure gauge, temp gauge, ignition power, fuel pump trigger, etc. In my BMW, this is the X20/X21 connector. Identify the wires on the ECU you need to connect to the body -...

    A340 Valve Body Upgrade

Cheers mate - the Haltech software is excellent in this regard and can be setup for closed loop learning on pressure. Will definitely share the results. These are the basic options - they can be expanded significantly

    A340 Valve Body Upgrade

Yes and no - yes because adjusting the cable will give you more line pressure, and no because having a linear relationship between throttle and line pressure is only ideal for NA applications... and somewhat to supercharged engines. If I was building a race car, then cable line pressure would...

    A340 Valve Body Upgrade

Through the process of building turbo 1UZ E36 BMW, I'm changing the valve body so it can handle boost more effectively. PROBLEM - the Soarer 1UZ A340E valve body uses: cable from the throttle body to control line pressure (the more right foot you give it, the more pressure you get) solenoid to...
