A miss and a stall, a bodgey idle and a big puff of smoke

**Anyhow, Not sure about a lot of your symptoms but one of them sounds familiar. Here is what I wrote for another post: http://www.lextreme.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8926&highlight=alternator+idle "My idle bottomed out (and bounced between 400 and 800) when slowing down and stopping for...

    1985 Ex cab... Almost finished

Very nice work Shuey! that thing is nasty. Looks like you didn't cut a single corner with this buildup. Great to see it all working and that front bar is a work of art. did you fab it yourself? Have you got any under bonnet shots?

    UCF20 Warm Low Idle/Stall - easy workaround

gmacrae, Swapped my plenum over to get the original powder coated and for some reason the idle went down to just above stall levels, and stalled completely when running LPG. Tried this mod and it worked a treat on petrol and LPG. Had to use a slightly bigger port and tube though. Thanks!

Reincarnation: 1uzfe reanimates 4runner with impending flatline

G’day timmay5.7 Yes and no…. The plenum just spins straight around and fits back on but there is a whole bunch of stuff you have to do to make it all work properly. See posts 40 to 58 for details. Basically the following had to happen: Plenum and intake manifold • The four centre bolt pins on...

    Shuddering/slipping at speed

Yep, it did. Is your speedo being affected? The speedo would cut out and go crazy a couple of times in the 2 week lead up to the eventual total failure. When it did fail the only gears that would work were first and reverse, because you could select these specifically with the shifter and it...

    Shuddering/slipping at speed

I had similar(ish) symptoms and eventually lost all power in the driveline. This was pre-conversion when I still had the old 3vze V6 puss bucket with the A343H tranny in it though. It Ended up being the speed sensor on the back of the A343H transfer case. Because the puter uses the speed...

Toyota/Lexus Online parts number reference catalogue

Hi Guys, Many of you may have come across this already but I saw the following URL on another forum and found the site very useful for tracking down part numbers. The tech write ups and forum is still under construction but the parts number lookup works great! You can search via your VIN or...

Reincarnation: 1uzfe reanimates 4runner with impending flatline

Hey, thanks Matt! The radiator and cooling took a while to get right and being as hot as it is here in Oz during summer it is one part of the build I didn't want to skimp on. Engine temperatures are well under control ATM. I am thinking of turning the scoop around when it starts hotting up...

MY 1uz into my 93 dualcab hilux

G'day Stewy, That cross member is the bloody goods! Was it difficult to fab? How long did it take measuring etc? Being a flat piece of steel, would that create more cabin vibrations that the original tube type cross member? And the air box is damn good too. I am just in the process of...

Low Idle and Misfire for 6 months... Help Please!

G'day Redback My idle bottomed out when slowing down and stopping for about 2 months. Very strange symptom. Could not work it out for ages and tried everything from least expensive thing to fix to the most expensive, of course it ended up being the most expensive: the alternator. I tried...

Can anyone ID this ECU? And help with gearchanges

Hey nice rig! Are the tyres 33s? They will hit your power with a cold spoon fore sure. I went from 31 inch to 32 inch not long after I had the motor installed and the change was very noticeable. It would have been even more noticeable if I had gone to 33. I went through the same drama’s as...

Thanks peewee:fing02: I might up it to 90 and see how she likes it. Do you change the thermo switch setting between winter and summer of leave it constant? I know this subject has been done to death in some quarters but some people say they don't run thermostats with these motors to increase...

Reincarnation: 1uzfe reanimates 4runner with impending flatline

POST ENGINE INSTALLATION: Aluminium fan shroud. Ask most of the guys who have done this swap into a 4runner/hilux and they will all tell you that a decent amount of time and effort had to be spent sorting the cooling due to space and overheating problems under the bonnet. And each person’s...

POST ENGINE INSTALLATION: Computer Mounting The computer sat loose behind the kick panel for about a week till I figured out where and how to bolt it to the body. POST ENGINE INSTALLATION: Snorkel reinstallation, Air Intake and air Box I bought 4 sections of air hose and two air boxes for a VN commodore from the wreckers. The hoses are 80mm in diameter and fit over the AFM and throttle nicely. With a bit of chopping and fibre glassing of the VN air...
