Project Thread Vortech on a tired 1UZ-FE

After a couple months and 2500 miles, the car still runs just great. in fact, I just took it to get smogged at a CA test only station and IT PASSED! I didn't even take it out on the highway to warm it up. the smog tech pulled me into the bay and started to tell me that my modifications needed...

    White mystery film?

Every car that's spent time in a winter exposed to road salts will have an engine bay covered in this white film. It's perfectly normal.

More random attachments ^^^^ By the way, thanks for the pointer on the trans line. I guess you're right, it has to be something to modulate the line pressure. I think it's undertightened, so I'll adjust it soon. Right now I'm in the middle of finals week. Two more tests and I'm done forever!

KC, I actually did think of that. The highway speed coast-downs with the throttle plate closed, and nowhere for the compressed air to go, HAS to have a tremendous heating effect on the blower. While a higher IAT and higher temperatures should generally be optimal for high engine efficiency, I...

I'll have to tighten the trans kickdown cable. Great suggestion, thank you. I haven't seen any freewheeling between gear shifts, fortunately, but I certainly don't want to wear the transmission to that point so quickly. Thanks for the pictures of the air to water intercoolers. I think that for...

All right, a complete made-to-order kit is the way to go then. I'll keep my eye out for used units. I guess there are several places I could put it. There's room behind my bumper where I could mount the pump and tank. I don't drive my car very hard at all, but I do try to get a little bit of...

Well, I've been putting around over the past few weeks with the system. The blower is prone to some serious heatsoak. This has the effect of keeping my IATs pretty dang high once the car is warm. I've seen the IATs reach 130 deg. F on a 70 degree day. I don't know where the safety limit is. The...

Can I get Better MPG from A supra Trans

Think about it this way, you will gain 1mpg at best from the 5spd trans, you will NEVER, in a dozen lifetimes, get the money back from gas savings, your fuel economy can be improved by swapping in a same-year LS400 auto trans OR adjusting your driving patterns.

Ready to Spend 4K. Please Help!

The V2 is a lot quieter than the V1. Something funny about a supercharged 1UZ, it turns miles into kilometers. MPH seem like KPH, MPG seems like KPG. Dollars remain the same, however. :(

Ready to Spend 4K. Please Help!

I'm lovin it :D If I could do it again, I could have done it for less money, maybe $1250 instead of $1500. The $250 is learning cost in parts I didn't end up using. Still, though... Back in the day, wasn't $1000 the price of just some stupid weapon-r intake for an IS300? The kind with LED lights...
