i will be swapping my crown ecu,s for a soarer type in the next few weeks so i will let you know, i have a feeling that trans sensors are diff but all else seems ok, crown ecu is needed for another project

webbie how did you fit front sump? did you move motor/gearbox forward lots? a mid sump fits waaaay easier just needs section out of diff side and relocale drain, and 1" spacer to move box forward, sorry for hijacking thread an heading in other direction but while I got everyones attention

I had been told the same but steering track rod is right in the middle of the sump, aussie 98s use basically the same chassis as pre 95 pickups appaerently because the tacoma chassis wasnt strong enuf for us aussies I reakon its just that we always get old leftover junk, front sump is perfect...

Im doing a 98 IFS hilux atm, using majesta 1uz like yours and filter would need to be 50mm long to fit cebby, you need the remote mount crown one, or aftermarket remote mount, the lexus one is just too close to the chassis, also mid sump fits better than front sump like you have

well actaully we had a red velour 2 seater couch precariously wedged in there for our test run, should have left it in for photo, honestly I only did it to make it easy to shift around, thats what I told the missus, her response was "its like living with a 36 year old teenager" I should have got...

you really dont wanna see it, I had to use a dounut type trans yoke as the slip joint one was missing when I got it, the commodore tailshaft was a tight fit into the toyota and welded, and suprisingley doesnt vibrate, it will get a loop if it stays like that, thinking of using it at a car show...

Well you know how you just happen to have that spare front cut lying around and they are so hard to move around, so your in your shed and spy that spare diff just sittn in the corner and themig has only just cooled down from your last stupid idea, do I need to continue, it has traction problems...

I have one of those in my shed awaiting resto, I also have a spare 1uz cut but also a pre smog 440 and a tunnel ram, mmmm ,choice is easy cubes win every time, I doubt you would need to cut it to fit 1uz, if you need any measurments mine is stripped out and also have 1uz on engine stand

check alternater charge volts, if volts are low motor will hunt at idol and not rev, check and clean earths , I had same probs on my lux. also ensure batt is fully charged to start with

When I first wired mine up the idle hunted up and down, mine was dodgy conections to alternater, I found alternater causing this prob posted some where on this forum.

use a shorter belt and totally remove hyd pump, thats what im doing, will know belt size in next week or so

I have 98 extra cab with 1uz, 2wd is piece of proverbial, the standard fuel pump works fine, mid sump is ok for 2wd with 2 inch body lift, I am part way into doing a mates 4wd 98 single cab so if yours is 4wd I will let you know of drama,s in the next few weeks, for the 4wd we are using majesta...

well do these motors ever die? what are some common problems with these motors that requires replacment or strip down, ther only seems to be good things about them ,no bad, so tell us your woes and grumbles
