Why do 1UZ heads suck soo bad, what can we do.

Thomas, 98 was the first year of VVTi for the UZ. 97 and earlier had all the same heads. There was a cam change in 95 or 96 (dont recall which year) Any of the 400series VVTi head will bolt onto the earlier block as it the 430series VVTi head. The oil supply for VVTi actuation is the problem...

    More ISCV questions (sorry)

What all items are you feeding power to from the EFI Relay??? Where is your injectors and ignition power suppy coming from??? Sounds like you have injector power and ignition power coming from the EFI relay and it shouldn't it normally comes from the ignition switch or you could wire in a...

It is commenly used in the machining industry cause of its excellent build up and machining properties... More ISCV questions (sorry)

Yes, it will stay alive for that for the delay period. Every time the IGSW is on then switched off, the internal timer circuit takes over to delay the shut down of certian circuits... Are you sure you have the M-Rel wire going to one side of the relay coil and the other side of the relay coil...

    More ISCV questions (sorry)

Ok, M-Rel should stay on for 3 seconds after IGSW signal to the ECU is lost. So being that your not even getting a full second out of yours, I'd suspect a faulty ECU.

biggest useable turbo on a 1UZFE?

Yeah, the bigger 1.06 A/R might be a better choice especially if you plannning on upgrading cams... I would still consult with Garrett directly about it just to make sure, but bigger is safer here forsure, less power but safe from possible over boost.... Not that it really applies to this...

.82 - .86 sounds about right but I would talk with garret directly to verify that selection...

biggest useable turbo on a 1UZFE?

My point exactly. Granted it will take 20psi to achieve it, but I'd rather build a motor to handle more boost and spin less RPM's then run more RPM's with less boost to achieve the same power... RPM is what kills motors.... Yeah, you could but the smaller piping is going to hurt you more in...

biggest useable turbo on a 1UZFE?

Dont know what figures you used for all the inputs but based on 500hp for a 4.0L with .55 BSFC and a 1PSI IC drop, the GT4088-1 would be the best selection but thats only if your taking it to 6000rpm... Going with the GT4202, the area that peak torque is falling into is in a lower eff. range...

    More ISCV questions (sorry)

Yes, the sequence has to be repeated. The ISCV is a 128 step stepper motor so having 4 steps per sequence, it should take 32 sequences to go from one end (open or closed fully) to the other end. The TPS adjustment shouldn't have an effect on ISCV opperation. The M-Rel triggers the EFI Relay...

    Ceramic Coating

I've tried Dry Film on ceramic and although it is said to adhere, I have never had any luck with it either... I had a set of pistons from a SBC that were thermal coated and had dry filmed side skirts from the manufacture that were damaged and there was no thermal coating below the top ring. I...
