    Twin Turbo 1UZ MKIII Supra

So where are you installing the flex joints? I didn't see them in any of the pics and all the forward piping looks complete hence my reason for asking. Im assuming that your going to transistion from round to oval when going back under the subframe with the down pipes? Is it staying oval the...

    More ISCV questions (sorry)

Yeah, Ignition problems can cause some strange things to happen..... With the open circuit on the one wire and resistance values changing when wires are moved around is a definit problem... There is an old saything in the american classic car and hot rod community that is so true in every...

    hmmmm.........uh oh

LSD were only in turbo's and N/A's that had the sport package (i.e. TEMS) Manual or Auto did not make a differance. The other thing is what year car is it out of? There were 3 different ratio's that were used... Lastly, if your putting down good power and getting good traction, the MKIII rear...

    Ignition Timing question

Ah, good idea about the laptop too... Im gonna have to pull my radio out, cause I seem to remember there being a port on the back that want to say said it was an AUX IN... Im trying to find the book on it no instead of pulling the radio (although it is pretty symple to pull it).

    Ignition Timing question

Yeah, I think Im going to try to one of those small personal hearing amplifiers that you can get from electronics stores (like radio shack, ect...) as they are cheap.. Basically unsolder the microphone from it and run wires out of it to hook directly to the knock sensor... I still like the...

    More ISCV questions (sorry)

Wait, #8 had an open circuit???? Now that doesn't make much sense..... The other thing is they all seem a tad high, but not enought to really be giving you a problem with the exception of possibly the #4 which didn't seem to be an issue from what all you've said in the past.... The #8 is the...

    Ignition Timing question

One thing, you said that you have them permanently installed, is this on a UZ and if so, might I ask where exactly and or you oppinion on the best place to install? Im almost thinking in the stock knock sensor locations as thats probably the best spot or toyota probably would have put them...

    Ignition Timing question

Thanks man... I dont know what I never really though of that with the pipe and tubing.. Basicall, just making a stethoscope with an extremely long reach... Im thinking the whole time of an electronic type monitoring kinda like your example of using the radio as a listening device.. To bad my...

    weird codes?

There is a problem with the primary O2's and the AFM. Those codes are soft codes so they wont show up unless the problem is there... I would suspect a bad AFM or a problem in the AFM circuit. Based on the codes, the O2 codes could show up based on thier description if the AFM was going out...

    More ISCV questions (sorry)

Check the resistance of the plug (high tension) wires namely them #3 and #5. Typically, OEM type wire will have about a 1000ohm per foot or per 300mm If its isolated to those two cylinders, then it can only be a few things causing the issue. Either the dizzy cap, the wires, the plugs or those...

    Ignition Timing question

What in your oppinion is the best way to make up a set of knock cans? Yeah, the system is super simple.... Yes i can adjust the sensitivity and I have it as low as it can go. I talked with my EMS provider and they suggested a resistor inline in the sensor wire to bring the sensitivity down...

    Throttlebody Adjustments

yeah, the ISCV handle all idle air supply..... If the butterfly is open even a small amount, the ECU will tend to have a hard time controling idle consistantly...

    Ignition Timing question

John, its on my 1uz (and yes its 7m's do have knock sensors  ) I really think that its either the knock sense system is way to sensitive or its another noise.. I highly doubt that its rod knock (no evidence of rod problems at all). Valve clearances are are perfect so I dont see it being...

    Ignition Timing question

Justin, that was my first though about there being an issue with timing not being the same as what is being shown. I have checked this and its dead on within a half of a degree, and its actually on the retarded side of it at that (kinda like yours but not the 5 degrees). I my thoughs is its...

    Ignition Timing question

John, thanks for that post with your value's. I know its way to retarded to get it low enough for knock to not show up based on the fact that I know Im loosing tons of power and EGT's are skyrocketing... Lets put it this way, with the timing pulled down to 20*'s in the 3000 to 4000 range, and...

One thing I did just notice looking at the pics is the front swaybar is upside down... Any reason why?

    Twin Turbo 1UZ MKIII Supra

Oh Jake, if you look at the under pics close enough, there shouldn't be any real ground clearance issues cause cause of where the pipe area.. They dont seem to be any lower the the chassis rails that run under the floor board.

    Twin Turbo 1UZ MKIII Supra

My biggest concerns with that setup thus far is cracking of the pipe work... I dont see any forms of compensation for thermal expansion for starters. To add to this, how are you supporting the turbo??? Thats putting A LOT of stress on the piping and that u-turn section under that car it the...

    Ignition Timing question

Oh, forgot to metion, I've tried a various AFR's and it makes no difference. even as rich as 11 to 1, knock still shows up if I try to advance the timing in that range stated above.... Again, like I said before, there is no tell-tail sign that knock is actually present (no melting of the...
