Please post pictures of the vvti controller

Hi gang, I really like to see the vvti controller, whether it be on the 1uz-fe or the 3uz-fe. If there is a difference please advise. I would also be appreciative of some dimensions if possible. Cheers and thanks Greg

Photo of the cam bucket please

Hi guys, could somebody post a photo of a cam follower for the V8 Lexus motor, I would like to see how the shimming system works. I need to convert my engine over to solid lifters and thought this system might be a good starting point. How big are the lifters in diameter? How much in grams do...

    Weight of turbos

You all make good points, I used to love the idea of a kenny bell supercharger. Great low end power and better efficiency than other types of superchargers. But I think for me it loses out in a couple of areas. One the low end power may break my gearbox, or just overpower the tires, I have 285...

    Weight of turbos

Ok my model is a 1984 928s but it has been updated in numerous areas to a higher spec of later models. The gearbox is from a 1990 model. Here is the link to it. Both of then are mine but the bottom car is the one getting the mods. Also this gearbox has syncro on reverse and is the same basic...

    473hp/376tq 3UZ-FE

If it uses buckets, are they solid or hydraulic? I take it if they are shimmed they are solid? Also is this what makes them light and able to rev? Thanks Greg

    Weight of turbos

It's a ZF box, there is no danger of the diff part breaking, that is super high tech, the gears are ground from hardened steel as apposed to being cut and then hardened. A very expensive process that for many years was only available in Germany. Its called Klingelnberg palliod tooth system. The...

    Weight of turbos

I thank all for their replies, I'm of course aware that the extra weight has no effect on top speed. As far as the weight is concerned it is more about handling and braking and to some extent responsiveness. As to supercharging V turbos, I actually like the supercharger better but again it...

    Weight of turbos

Hi guys when I posted last nite I was really tired and I should have added a few more details of things I know. My background is a mechanic and have friends who are engineers. I also keep upto date with some of the latest technology available, such as Race Tech and Race Engine Technology. So I...

I for 1 would love to see some more details on the 3uz-fe engine, does it have finger followers? Pics please. Cheers Greg

    Weight of turbos

Hi gang one of the reasons I git interested in the Toyota motor was that fact it was so light and well built. I planed on having N/A engine. These are more responsive and certainly lighter. But I'm thinking they probably wont last as long and will cost a ton of money, money which I no longer...

    JGTC Supra Engines

I thought I would bring this thread back to life, surely somebody out there must have some info? I did see a bore stroke dimensions, It worried me that the stroke was so long as the rod to stroke ratio would have gone down the crapper. This wouldn't be a problem for short races but for engine...

    Best Of Uzfe Mix-n-match

Hi offroad1, man that was a lot of work to supply all that info, really appreciate it. Well done. I'm interested in the 3uz engine especially some pics of all the vital bits, such as the block, rods, heads and camshaft timing and the camshaft mechanisn. Has it got finger followers? That is...

    Advancing The Cam Timing

By advancing the cam timing you will bring the power band lower, I think really the cams are pretty lame, we really need a vvtl-i engine dont you think? I wonder if we could convert a 3uz-fe engine? Take the parts from a 1.8 litre engine with this system and custom make a few parts. There's a...

    Best Of Uzfe Mix-n-match

What do we know about the 2uz-fe crank? Is it cast or a forged item? Also what about the 3 uz-fe block, can it be bored out to the 94 mm that the 2uz-fe has? I believe the 3uz-fe engine has a special bore material and this requires the iron coated pistons. I know about iron coated pistons as my...

    VVTL-i How it works

Hey Peewee do we know what the bore spacing is on the UZ motors and the motors that have VVTL-i? If it is the same there would be a chance it might be able to be adopted over. Yes I know that would be small. On the Porsche 928 which is a V8, the 4 cylinder version the 944, its heads will fit on...

    VVTL-i How it works

The UZ engines dont have VVTL-i, only VVT-i. Bugger!

    VVTL-i How it works

Hi Peewee, thanks for responding, I need atleast 4.7 litres, my car is pretty heavy, it will be around 1350 kgs after the work is done. So if I managed to get that 120 hp per liter that would get me to 500 hp. I was originally going to go with the Porsche motor, but everything needs to be custom...

    Cams?

Yes I agree from that photo anyway your cams do look great. Porsche V8 cams i.e the 928 don't like to be welded at all. They fail in street applications. The cams are made from chill cast iron, a very durable material, what are the Lexus cams made from?

    VVTL-i How it works

Hi to all, for those of you who haven't seen it, here's a great link to how the system works. http://www.billzilla.org/vvtvtec3.htm. While I have never programmed one of these before, the method of how it works seems straight forward enough. If you were to modify one of these I would suggest...
