    Cleaning maf

7mgte MAF will not work right - it will send the same values as the LS400 MAF to the ECU, but it will let less air through because it's smaller in diameter, so your engine will run rich.

94 LS400 - sluggish acceleration, and low RPM pinging

Yeah, I had a K&N filter screw up the MAF in my GS430, but my LS has a brand new MAF and OEM filter.

    Engine Stall at decceleration

Hey, I had similar problems, I cleaned the throttle body, and also I bypassed the PS pump air hoses. Theres a hose that goes from the intake to the PS pump, and then another one going from the PS pump into the intake manifold. I looped these hoses into each other, and just got a new hose going...

94 LS400 - sluggish acceleration, and low RPM pinging

Well, there are two of these sensors, and I think they are just magnets. Doubt if they fail very often, if at all.

Yeah, I think its the MAF.

The cable on the right is for cruize control. The throttle would be one of the two on the right.

94 LS400 - sluggish acceleration, and low RPM pinging

Welp, my timing belt and water pump replacement didn't do jack, except my water pump no longer leaks so the car doesn't overheat. It still pings and lags. White LS, if you can be a little more specific about the cable, (I assume it's the throttle cable), and how exactly did you tighten it, I...

    help in Identifying UFO's

Can you be more specific? You have two camshaft sensors, they both are inside the distributor housings, one left one right. Each one has a wire with a plug just like that. Also, crank sensor has a plug that looks like that as well. Although I dont remember any of them having the metal mounting...

Help - replaced timing belt, car wont start, backfires through intake.

Allright, charged the battery, cranked her up and she started right up without much drama. Drove around for an hour or so, temperature is normal, no visible leaks. Runs and accelerates smoothly, but I didnt take it over 2500 RPMs because my crank pulley isnt tighened. Will deal with that...

Help - replaced timing belt, car wont start, backfires through intake.

One more thing... Lets say if it starts and everything goes well, there's one more thing, I dont have the crank pulley bolt tightened properly - only torqued as much as it allows before crank starts to spin.. However a friend of mine that live about 20 miles away has a compressor and an impact...

Help - replaced timing belt, car wont start, backfires through intake.

Update: Sure enough I had the timing belt on wrong. On the drivers side cam pulley there's another mark, and I had it aligned with that mark. It was about 10 teeth off. I reinstalled the belt and reassembled everything back together, but now my battery is dead so I can't test it. I gotta wait...

Help - replaced timing belt, car wont start, backfires through intake.

I'm using the marks, just like in your picture. However, the marks on my cam gears are very faded compared to that picture, and the mark in the front of the gear is not visible at all, but the one in the back is somewhat visible, so I was able to align them.

94 LS400 - sluggish acceleration, and low RPM pinging

I don't know but I'm not the first owner of the car. Usually cats getting red hot is a condition when you're not getting spark, and all the fuel gets dumped into the exaust. It's often caused by bad ignition coil. However it's an interesting theory, if I finally get my timing belt done and the...

Help new to the lexus and it won't go

Well, check for spark on all cylinders - pull the wire from the spark and hold it near a metal object, you should see the spark. If you dont see the spark on the other four cylinders, check you ignition coil for that distributor - there are two of them on the 1UZ.

Help - replaced timing belt, car wont start, backfires through intake.

See, I thought of that when I installing them, but they only go in one way - they have a grove that wont let that happen. I could've possibly messed up the cam/crank sensor wires when I was disconnecting/reconnecting them, but could that cause the car not to start?
