sluggish pickup once up to runing temp

Ironically, I played with that sensors resistance as well, a couple of months ago. Below I'm attaching a chart with resistance specs. I've tried various resistors, and with fooling the ECU to think engine coolant temp is lower than it actually is, I was getting a huge improvement in torque...

sluggish pickup once up to runing temp

Disconnect your MAF and see if running without MAF you get better torque.

I'm amused... Got the ECU back today, installed it and it made no difference whatsoever Seriously guys, this car is such a POS its not even funny. Whats with everybody praising the 1LS for being oh so reliable and durable and well built. It cant keep up with a Honda Civic while burning 4x as...

94 LS400 - sluggish acceleration, and low RPM pinging

Just received a phone call from the people that are rebuilding my ECU. They said they put it in their test car, and were experiencing the same problems I described, mainly lack of power. They said they should be able to repair it. I'm holding my fingers crossed. I should be getting the ECU...

94 LS400 - sluggish acceleration, and low RPM pinging

I'm not giving up yet. Just removed the ECU yesterday and sending it for a rebuild. If that doesn't solve it, I'm either going to set the car on fire, crash it into a wall, or sell it and get a BMW.

    AFM question

There are a few different MAFs that 1UZ's used, the early generations used Vortech AFMs, by far the crappiest design. Later on they switched the much more reliable hot wire MAFs.

    Replacing seats

These corbeau sliders arent the most durable or easy to use thing either. When I had them in my civic, i broke one during installation, and had it exchanged, for free. But after installed, they have this long lever sticking out, I would constantly get caught on it. I actually ended up sawing it...

    Replacing seats

I had Corbeaus in my old Civic, but they were fabric, and the fabric was a total POS. Wore out fast, easily prone to cuts and cigarette burns.

My car wont reach the normal operating temperature.

I am so frustrated I'm ready to drive this car off a cliff. Ever since I've replaced the water pump, The car wont reach the normal operating temperature. Leaking thermostat housing, o-ring?

Problem solved... for now at least. The o-ring that I previously used was non OEM. I bought the thermostat at a Lexus dealer, but they didnt have an o-ring, so I bought it at an autoparts store. I picked up an OEM o-ring this morning at a Lexus dealer, and it seems a bit thicker than the non...

    Leaking thermostat housing, o-ring?

Hey guys. Last year my car started overheating, which turned out to be a bad water pump, which I since replaced. But before I replaced the water pump, I first replaced the thermostat. I removed the plastic piece that connects the thermostat housing to the radiator hose, installed new...

    SC400 BHG diagnosis

Could be a number of things, - thermostat, radiator, low coolant, bad water pump, blown headgasket, clogged up coolant galleries in the engine block to name a few. Most often its a leak in the system or water pump. Just take it to a repair shop and let them see what it is.

94 LS400 - sluggish acceleration, and low RPM pinging

First gen (90-94) and second gen (95-97) LS400's have completely different ECU's and MAFs, although they are in the same place. You maf should be right after the filter housing on your intake, its a black thingy with a plug.

    LX470 Excess Fuel Consumption

Thats roughly 11.5 miles per galon. I'd say it's normal for a truck this size, my LS400 gets about the same, and I used to get 14mpg in a 2001 MDX (3.5 V6)

94 LS400 - sluggish acceleration, and low RPM pinging

High idle upon start up is absolutely normal, in fact its necessary. When the car is cold it idles higher, then once it warms up the idle settles down at 650rpms. Check your MAF and TPS, try running it with MAF disconnected, see what happens.

    Please help!!!!! power steering problems

Fill the fluid, start the car, turn the steering wheel all the way to the right or to the left, and have someone hold it like that for a few minutes, and check under the car for leaks. Another possibility is if you have a leaking PS pump air control valve, and it leaks into your manifold and...
