    Engine build up

Everyone has a different opinion on the surface finish on the ports. But, of the experts in the field I have spoken to, they all say the same thing....dont polish them shiny. We could argue about it all day and if you search this forum as I have done its been covered many a time already...

    Engine build up

The machine shop who worked the heads said that the valves do not need lapping against the seats as theyve been machine ground to match the valve angles. I disagree strongly with that advice, I dont see why you wouldnt do it while its in this state. 3 weeks ago I had an accident at work...

    Engine build up

Not much to say about the valves. Manley in the US made them from their gen 3 blanks from some weird alloy that i've never heard of. They are a dimensional copy of the original 1uz valves in every way apart from the exhausts being +1mm and the stems +1 thou. I wouldnt say they are exceptional...

    Engine build up

I'm finally after months of tracking down parts about to put my engine back together. I've had nightmares with the valves and pistons due to the distributor 'Fabre' in Sydney being the most useless bunch of people I've ever had the misfortune to deal with. Anyway, got a few pictures of the heads...

    Alternator part identification help

Theres not much that hasn't been chrome plated or polished. It's all ready to go, I'm just waiting on the engine internals to arrive and the machining to be done, then I could post a thread of the engine going back together (if I can remember what goes where...lol). Elliot

Is the above method the correct way to set up the TPS? Just asking as I've fully stripped and rebuilt my whole assembly and wondered how to set it up again ? Elliot

    Alternator part identification help

Thanks! Got my new custom valves through the post from Manley last week. Got +1's for the exhaust valves. Made from their Gen 3 blanks. Heads are being machined to suit now and hopefully I can start reassembling next week. just waiting on new pistons from Ross, supposed to be on their way...

    Alternator part identification help

Finally got my alternator back together....bit embarrassing really....that pulley in the above post is the wrong one....the real one was hiding at the bottom of a pile of other stuff I had packed away...doh! Anyway, got it all together and ready to run again, all new internals..brushes...

    Injectors from a holden ???

These holden ones are made by bosch. Part # 280 150 960. 18.25 1bs/hr @ 3 bars 191.8 cc/min @ 3 bars 138 grams/min Sounds like these will not flow high enough? Ebay might be the way to go then....... Elliot

    Injectors from a holden ???

I've been given a full set of 8 holden V8 injectors. They are brand new and probably worth a few bucks (i'm not owning up to being a holden fan here....). I've compared them visually to the 1uz ones I have. The centre section looks identical in every way. The nozzle end has a different...

    Alternator part identification help

I'm just finishing rebuilding my alternator. There must be a part missing here somewhere. The pulley centre hole is far bigger than the alternator shaft. There must be something else?? I have boxes and boxes of stuff which I have gone through, I'm just wondering if I have lost this missing part...

    q45 TB conversion help reqd

Not actually had one in my hands to measure yet. but looking at some of the pictures of them on ebay. Being that the port is 90mm in diameter, you can guestimate the positions of the 4 mounting holes. I'd say they would be closer to 90mm apart ?? Elliot

    Started fabricating new oil pan

Sorry, its not available for sharing. I think someone asked the same question a while ago. While I'm never going to be a millionaire, I still need to pay the bills, and thats how I make my pennies. Elliot

    q45 TB conversion help reqd

I wish it was all so easy, but my engineer will not allow me to run an aftermarket computer so I'm stuck with the original one until he signes the paperwork that the car is fit for the road. Elliot

    q45 TB conversion help reqd

I've gone down the route of a lot of people on here as far as engine mods go....bigger valves, flowed heads, bigger cams etc. I think the next weakest link is going to be the TB opening. As fas as the mounting pattern goes, I would completely cut and shut the plenum to allow a 90mm full flow...

    q45 TB conversion help reqd

I have considered a twin throttle body setup, but I'd rather stick with a single just as I prefer the less complicated look. I understand that the Q45 TB is amongst the largest available at 90mm. I know very little on how the electronic functions of these things work so need to do a little...

    Started fabricating new oil pan

Hi again. The plates were drawn up on CAD with dimensions taken from a stripped engine. Personally, I think 6 may be on the thin side as you need some rigidity between the sump and plates that make up the rear section for the bellhousing mating. (hope that makes sense). I will try and get...
