Busted for speeding......

Wow. Just wow. Opinions are like a**eholes and all, but I daresay your opinion is based on some seriously miguided notions. A stock Renault 4CV drives like garbage. A stock Yugo drives like garbage. My '70 Mustang Fastbacks, in stock form, were fast, capable handlers that won autocross trophies...

    Busted for speeding......

Gotta disagree, jibbby. the '06-05 Mustangs are the first Mustangs since the '70 model that I'd buy brand new. Absolutely stunning grasp of how to make a modern car have cues of it's ancestors. Of course, Chip Foose had a hand in refining the proportions. I can find examples I like from every...

    Busted for speeding......

I'd say good kill, but in stock form, those old Trans Ams had very little hp (but a bunch of torque). A fully loaded one weighs 4000+ lbs (mine weighed 3900), and they have 2.48 rear end gears and no overdrive. In stock form, they also only rev to 4500 rpm. Gotta love the bad old days of...

That would depend totally on how he handles it afterward. And, as you've probably seen here, we tend to ask a LOT of questions on suitability beforehand, both to people vending things here and of vendors that don't even post. And we even ask millions of questions on suitability about products...

THE Z06 VETTE may be the best bang for your buck

I didn't say you'd lose $30k with mods. I said you aren't going to get back those $30k in mods. You MIGHT get back $0k, if they are done right. Period. Doesn't matter if it's on a Ferrari, Porsdhe or your Supra. Supras aren't magical, and they arent that valuable. If you...

THE Z06 VETTE may be the best bang for your buck

Exactly. Try it anywhere, and a modded car, while it may bring mroe than a stocker, does not bring back the cost of the mods by a long shot. 1) the mods limit the market reducing cvalue, 2) the modded parts are now USED, reducing their individual value, and 3) no matter what you say, a...

THE Z06 VETTE may be the best bang for your buck

Flaw in your logic. If you start with a used Supra worth $30k, and you sink $30k into mods, you end up with a Supra worth $30k when you try to sell it. Mods barely count in resale value. You MIGHT add $10k in resale value, but you'd still be out $20k, while a limited edition Z06 will not lose...

THE Z06 VETTE may be the best bang for your buck

Because he said this: It's easy to finance a stock vehicle that does what you want, and you get the car RIGHT NOW, with a warranty (so that if it does break, you personally don't have to spend time tracking down just what the hell you did wrong during your buildup). It's hard to finance a long...

THE Z06 VETTE may be the best bang for your buck

A real car enthusiasts like all kinds of cars. Only a closed minded marque-blind fool hates a car because it ins't made by their favorite manufacturer, or uses a different way of making power, or is owned by someone they don't like. No, it's not a sin to like a fast sports car. :D

Thanks. :wtf: Now I have to wonder about the money I just spent with him on the group buy for the W58 adaptor... I've been keeping tabs on it through this site. Is there proof that he's scammed anyone? Is there proof that he hasn't delivered on anything? Seems banning him for putting a...

Standalone ECU Megasquirt- sorting out the details

Is there a vacuum line going to the main board that does the MAP? I'm trying to figure out where I'm going to tap that off properly when I clean up the engine. I want to remove everything that isn't essential to making the engine run in the old car it's going into. The Lexus uses the crank...

Standalone ECU Megasquirt- sorting out the details

is your setup going to remove teh dizzys and teh distributor sensor for #1 TDC, and just use the EDIS wheel for all of it? How about MAP sensor? I was also looking at a bolt-on trigger wheel for the EDIS on the 1UZ...

    Manual Conversion (SC400)

Just remember, there's a whole LOT of backyard hotrodders that aren't going for 500hp drag cars, but simply putting these engines in cars that didn't even have 150 hp in stock form... A flywheel/clutch/pressureplate package that would bolt on and be useable behind a 270-400 hp engine, and cost...

    1UZ with Supra tranny

Cool. That would be great news. This project has been 15 years in the making. I don't want it to take another 15 years to get it on the road... hehehehe

    Manual Conversion (SC400)

oh, I understand, but the Kennedy stuff is for a small market, too. And with modern CAD/CAM to run the machines, it's not quite as difficult as it used to be. What I tend to see, however, even with stuff that's mass marketed to more popular imports is that import guys are used to paying...

    1UZ with Supra tranny

Would it work with an essentially stock clutch and pressure plate setup? As you can tell from the other thread, this is essentially a shoestring project budget. ;)

    Decent price for a 1UZ-FE?

A grand for everything is a good buy, especially if you have good stats on the engine. I got mine for $480, but it was at $700 with shipping, and it doesn't have the alternator or all the wiring.
