    Chevy/GM and Th400/powerglide swap?

Close. They typically weighd 5000-5800 lbs! HUGE boats. But very comfy. 10 mpg was closer to their average. Interestingly, the higher hp version I had in the Mustang put out the same mileage. Amazing what a much smaller car can do... hehehehe Actaully it wasn't THAT loud. From the outside, at...

    Gas Prices

That's changing rapidly, as every manufacturer and oil company are knee-deep in research, along with companies like Ballard. there are now potable wind powered hydrogen generation stations, portable solar powered hydrogen generation stations, etc. groups are getting hydrogen out of bacteria in...

    Chevy/GM and Th400/powerglide swap?

3-4 year olds LOVE noise! And a big block rumble is like nothing else. BTW, they make these things called mufflers that can quite an engine down, so all you hear is a little bit of deep growl. That's how they got those 500cid Cadillacs to be silent back in the '70s... Don't think that all...

    Chevy/GM and Th400/powerglide swap?

lol! hp/liter is such an interesting sidenote. But that's about it. A typical 250cc two stroke bike engine makes more hp/liter than pretty much any car engine, but would it be any fun operating as the powerplant in a Lexus? A .049 R/C plane engine makes 450 hp/liter, but would it even MOVE a...

    Electric Powered

You can build them. A friend of mine does electric car drag racing. He helped build a Datsun 1200 that was converted to full electric and runs 12s in the quarter, as well as a Ford Festiva that was converted as a commuter, which runs 15s now (down from 19s), but goes over 100 miles in a charge...

    Chevy/GM and Th400/powerglide swap?

jibby, this is my 600 hp, 700 lb ft 466 cid Ford (.030 over 460) in my old Fox Mustang (the engine compartment is smaller than your SC). The engine cost $1500 to build, and ran like that for 10 years with nothing more than regular oil changes, and was as docile as grandma's Buick until you...

UZFE to GM Transmissions adaptor Plate

To put this in perspective: I built a V8 RX7 back in '93 in my carport over a 2 week period. I built the mounts from steel stock for $20, made the eelectricals work, and drove the car for 5 years, at a total cost of under $2500 to do the conversion. One of the RX7 Club members has been working...

    Chevy/GM and Th400/powerglide swap?

It's a Chevy big block with aluminum heads. It'll fit. Emissions might be an issue, however, but it'll fit. While it weigns more than te 1UZ by about 200 lbs, the SC400 won't hardly notice the increase due to it's own mass. But yeah, it's a pretty pricy way to go.

UZFE to GM Transmissions adaptor Plate

Hey, I was asking about alignment and discussing the problems of being out even a couple thousandths already. OTOH, it's a used engine and saying you want perfection becasu Toyota was looking for it ignores thae fact that not everyone here is interested in spending silly amounts of money to...

UZFE to GM Transmissions adaptor Plate

Toyota spent multi-millions on development. We can't. So there is a slight disconnect in philosphy. ;)

    Gas Prices

Like all large markets, the oil and gas industry is FULL of speculators, and speculators LOVE to dwell on things like Iran (which I believe is the #4 producer in the world, and has direct access to the shipping lanes of which most of that regions supply comes from). A recent study was done...

    Help needed! V8 to Rx7

The ENGINE is cheaper, which is why I bought it. As it turns out, making it acutally run and hook up to a transmission costs considerably more than just buying an LS series with transmission. :sorry: As for a time constraint, eth LS is a bolt in with th eGranny's kit. The Lexus is going to be...

    Help needed! V8 to Rx7

Over here in the US, it's cheaper and faster to use an LSx combo. That swap is scienced out and you can use both manuals and automatics with ease.

lexus v8 to getrag clutch-now available

I'm looking into EVERY option. I've got he W58 already, but I'd go back to an automatic if I have to. I'm just finding it hard to justify spending $1-2k just to mate up the $480 1UZE with the $50 W58 in a $1500 car. Hell, I've already spent almost $400 just on Eric's adapter plates that I...

UZFE to GM Transmissions adaptor Plate

The reason I asked is that I did a similar thing with a different engine trans combo (using a Mazda 5 speed manual behind an old Ford I6). It looked fine, but apparently it was off by a couple thousandths of an inch and when you drive the car at about 40mph up the trans starts shaking due to the...

UZFE to GM Transmissions adaptor Plate

is that a lockup torque coverter, and wil it work well with the 200R4? How did you figure on how deep it had to be to bolt onto the flexplate and still match the input shaft with the spacer plate? How precise is the alignment between trans and engine? Does it shake/vibtate at all?If I can't find...

lexus v8 to getrag clutch-now available

Was this the inexpensive clutch/flywheel setup you were talking about before? I still need an inexpensive clutch/flywheel combo to mate the stock 1UZ to the W58, using Eric's adaptor plates.

lexus v8 to getrag clutch-now available

Now, this thing is going to bolt to the stock automatic flexlate? Will it work with Eric's engine-to-trans adapter for the W58? And is it overkill for an essentialy stock output engine?

    Busted for speeding......

Then you don't know Mustangs OR VWs, and stating it that way makes you look like your opinion is valueless. About the same as going onto a medical message board and saying "it's my opinion that lung cancer can be cured by rubbing grape jelly on your chest and chanting." Sure, it's your opinion...
