    I have no experience with the unit on the 1uz but the XMS being a standalone will work with the engine...the SMT7 has been programed for toyotas 36-2 trigger system which most have :) So yes I will be installing 3 XMS systems (1 on 3s-gte and 2 on the 5vz toyota engines) this coming year...

    Anyone Piggybacked an aftermarket ecu and retained full auto controll etc ?

    You can reatain the stock auto control in almost any ecu You need to feed the stock ecu with what it needs to control the tranny aka The crank sensor signal for rpm TPS for load.... VSS (speed sensor)...also a load indication.... Keep the outputs connected to the solenoid and your done :)
