    1uz vvti into a Volga

Your Volga looks strange to me. I remember Volgas from my childhood. Some where used as taxis. Looked very different. Maybe a bit like a Citroen DS type car, and they were incredibly strong. I still remember a wee news bit from a newspaper: Head on crash (there and there) between a Volga taxi...

    Starter Motor R&R daunting task !! LS400

quite a lot of water when its raining heavily and blowing like hell, but not much unwanted water in the area around the starter, that area is reasonably protected from rain nope, haven't checked voltage drop, should do that, (but don't really see that hammer/spanner exercises would solve...

    Starter Motor R&R daunting task !! LS400

Forgot to add; If I start the mill every day it works fine, the solenoid does its job immediately and it fires up quickly. If I let 4-5 days go by without starting then I must do the hammer/spanner bit to get the starter/solenoid to work. Maybe I'm wrong, but this gives me the idea that its...

    Starter Motor R&R daunting task !! LS400

right, ta, takes me a wee bit longer though, awkward working conditions in a rolling boat bloody odd though that a virtually brand new starter, hardly used, should have a "faulty" solenoid doesn't appeal to me to buy electrical stuff from a scrapyard, will see what Toyota in BKK can...

    Starter Motor R&R daunting task !! LS400

when starter engages and turns cogwheels and teeth sound OK the solenoid was tested quite a lot before the starter was installed, but, sure could be a problem with the solenoid can anything be done to a lax solenoid or is the solution to change it?

    Starter Motor R&R daunting task !! LS400

May I throw in a question re starters here. My 1UZ is probably a late 94 or early 95 model (Celsior). Not so long ago I changed the starter. Put in a Toyota refurbished starter. The flywheel is probably original. If a week goes by without starting the engine I have to go through an exercise...

Cast Aluminum Rear Drop Sump for 1UZ

aluminium or whatever, dunno, but approx 75 mm is the depth of what is below the engine block

Cast Aluminum Rear Drop Sump for 1UZ

My sump extends about 75 mm down from the engine block. (not disregarding the drain plug, which is recessed on the side of the sump) Anything deeper than that would be a challenge for me, but my application is very far from mainstream. I am reasonably confident that my 1UZ stems from a Celsior...

Parts Cast alloy rear drop sumps

What kind of alloy? As above, I'd also like to know how far it extends down from the engine block.

    Diesel 1UZFE

whatever Toyota has diesel V8s, been around for close to 10 years now. 4500 cc turbo charged, comes with 1 or 2 turbos. Great stuff. roughly 260 hp roughly 750 Nm. As far as I know they can be found in large Landcruiseres, Lexus 570 and some pickup models. These mills may be found almost all...
