    Caltex e-Flex E85 vs BP Premium 98-octane

Hey guys, I haven't found much info about using e85, what is required to run e85 in the 1uz, and is e85 much more expensive than BP 98?

    Help me choose Cams

Yes kelfords are good, I have kelford cams in mine. You will need springs with that much lift, and as far as I know you also need some head work/grinding so that the cam lobes don't hit the head because that's a fair bit of lift.

    Exhaust Merging options and Scavenging

Nz Jailbar. I'm going to take a guess and say no, a single section of reduced diameter won't help much unless you're asking something else?

    Exhaust Merging options and Scavenging

Yep, unfortunately most exhaust shop owners don't understand the actual science behind exhaust scavenging and reversion. I guess it's like trying to find a Doctor that knows something about the human body.

    Exhaust Merging options and Scavenging

Yeah the plan was Moderate flowing system for regular town use, and the higher flowing loud system for performance. Sleeper mode to Loud/fast mode with a button. Without taking up too much space and being too complicated, The most efficient way I've thought of doing this so far is just having...

    Exhaust Merging options and Scavenging

I don't know if that X-pipe kinda setup you linked would have any sort of decent scavenging Bushwhacker, the idea is to get each exhaust pulse from one bank to "draft" the pulse of the other bank by ramming them into a merge, that design is more just like a chamber to mix the gas from each bank...

    Exhaust Merging options and Scavenging

Another question Jbrady, had much experience with electronic Cut outs? Only thinking of it as an option to go in my middle pipe rather than trying to make it loud by reducing mufflers, leaving the system sounding quietish and pressing a button to open up a a cutout in the middle pipe. I have...

    Exhaust Merging options and Scavenging

Yeah, that is what I was thinking about with the 2nd Y-pipe having that plenum sort of design. Thanks heaps for the very informative posts, I have done a fair bit of reading on reversion and scavenging (for intake side as well) and it's all making quite a bit of sense. Only wish I had read up...

    Exhaust Merging options and Scavenging

Ok after some thinking, I think I have come to a final conclusion. When I get around to revisiting the exhaust, I'll probably Go with replacing the front section with 2" Mandrel bent then A Magnaflow Y pipe 2" into 2.5"...

    Stand alone ecu

make sure you can actually get the SS4 before planning that route. I was unable to get into contact with the guy who sells them so not even sure if they still make them.

    Exhaust Merging options and Scavenging

Ah yes, very much agree it was a rather rude sounding system. Didn't really like it since the moment I drove out of the exhaust shop, but at nearly $1500 for that exhaust I wasn't in any hurry to replace it straight away. When I pay off my bills and put together funds, exhaust is going to get...

    Cam and valve spring change

Well I haven't been out racing around really, I think it's the "What is that thing, and why can I feel the noise it makes" look. Other V8 owners instinctively do the whole "look at me" fly by thing. Im having issues turning my Stereo on. Oh Sent you an email also.

    Exhaust Merging options and Scavenging

Got a clip of what it sounds like currently. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypIV8BVNi2I The cams did a good job of making up for the lack of exhaust quality for now. Can only get better huh.

    Cam and valve spring change

Yes indeed, the stock Drive ratio is s bog factor it doesn't feel all that quick, It still has some of the original smoothness in that it tricks you into thinking you're not moving as fast as you actually are. It would feel incredible with shorter gears. (And a tune) Feels like it's gotten a...

    Cam and valve spring change

Well I managed to put together a short clip of how it sounds at the moment. A few days after she went back on the road. I racked up some Km's over a couple days to warm the cams up. I suspect the ECU still has to educate itself a bit more. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypIV8BVNi2I The...

    Camshaft timing

Just heard from Kevin (kelfords) this morning via email, He mentioned they've bought the gear they needed to make the adjustable gears so they're going to get started on that soon. Bit of good news there for those looking for adjustable cam gears.

    Exhaust Merging options and Scavenging

Yeah I've been doing a lot of reading up on exhausts as that's probably going to be the next job after I get those tyres sorted. After I sort my bills and rego, I'll have to make do with that exhaust for a bit. Im going to get rid of those Magnaflows, they're nice mufflers but way too big...

    Camshaft timing

Yeah I can work out the timing XR8, was just wondering if it were possible. Wasn't sure on the valve to piston clearances etc but samsdad cleared that up. I guess best option is just to match the other mods to the power range of the cams rather than adjust the cam seperation. Looking forward...

    Exhaust Merging options and Scavenging

Hmm, I hadn't known the mandrel bends would make that much difference. I was under the impression there's only 1 or 2 hp between mandrel bend and crush bent given the exhaust is identical in setup, which is why I didn't ask for mandrel the first time. If they in fact make a much greater...

    Camshaft timing

Cant find adjustable cam gears anywhere, I spoke to kelford and they said they were trying to get some made but never managed to.
