    Tig Welder in USA

Might be able to "sweat" some brazing material in the slip fit collector as well. But defintly break it off the collector and weld the pipes one at a time first. BTW thinner tube retains heat better. The thicker the tube, the more of a heat sink it is, and the longer it takes to warm up the...

    1UR Engine

I thought it was odd that the left and right bank have different valve timing ranges. Also, notice that they publish the weight now. How does 511 lbs compare to the 3UZ?

Twin Turbo (1 big & 1 small) Lag Elimination

twin sequential turbo setups are very complicated. Getting that 2nd turbo to "join the party" is very difficult. In fact, I have never seen it done sucessfully by a DIY'er, and the factory systems have their quirks and reliability issues. That's why I suggested a compound, not sequential...

Twin Turbo (1 big & 1 small) Lag Elimination

I agree 100% with JustenGT8. If you really want to spool a very large turbo well, go with a compound charging, using a positive displacement supercharger (roots, or better yet, twin screw) and a large turbo. The turbo will blow through the supercharger, and there will not be any issues with this.

    1st dyno run

"Do you happen to know what a similarly prepared 2JZ-GTE makes at 1 bar?" Honestly I would expect a 2JZ with aftermarket cams to make around 500 rwhp easily at 1 bar -not much difference. I think this project is awsome, and you should be proud, but I a a little surprised the engine did not...

    Twin GT35R or GT42R

I would agree the twins won't always spool sooner. In theory, they do. In practice, I rarely see that happen. But even so, either choice seems like a win

    New Motec launch

Sounds like this is targetted at the early 1UZs, which have 2 banks of injection and 2 coils, which is perfect for the M4 box they have. That's probably why it's only 1.5 grand.

    Cost of Supra (V160) Swap

I think these costs are similar for just about any auto to manual conversion, not just the V160. You can save some money if you get a inexpensive manual transmission, but then you are probably limiting your power potential. IMO, a lot of people buying the V160 adapter probabaly have a Supra...

What makes the pre 98 1UZFE inferior to its younger brothers

The biggest factor, IMO, is probbaly the vvti. Just look at what vvti did for the 2UZ, which probably did not change much between 2004-2005. It jumped from 235 HP to 285. Not sure if the 2005 2UZ got the variable length intake, but that could help a lot as well.

What will you do with $11,000

Looks much better. I'll probably go for the 2.75" pulley first and be a little conservative.

What will you do with $11,000

David, I agree with your boost estimates, but I am more optimistic about the HP levels with a whipple. The whipple is very effcient, and I am also using a vvti 1UZ, so I expect I can get ~250 rwhp with no blower at all, maybe a bit more (300?) with headers/exhaust/tuning. Perhaps I need cams...

What will you do with $11,000

David, I am not sure about the pulley. I really hope I don't have to go to a different crank pulley. Actually, looks like whipple has a 2.75" charger pully, but "South Florida Pulley Headquarters" has a 2.5" one. With 2.5" and 5" crank, that's a 2x rotaional difference on the charger, vs...

What will you do with $11,000

Jibby, whipple has a supercharger (used to go by p/n 2300, something else now) that will flow enough for about 800 flywheel hp ideally. This is very similar to what Kenne Bell uses for the Mustang Cobra with the "blowzilla", which make 600 rwhp easily. I have high confidence the supercharger...
