    BMW Motorcycle Pistons

And how many match the combustion chamber of the 1UZ? Or are you altering the surface of the pistons to match squish areas, valve reliefs, etc?

    Turbo Q45

420 HP was stated earlier. I agree, that turbo is rediculously large for 420 HP.

    1UZ fits in Supra!

sadly it will probably be a 4 year project.

Update on Paul Carey UZFE powered Drag Car

I would just consider using a stronger material (L19?) on the original studs and not going for 4 bolt mains. You could also investigate much stronger main caps like they use on 1400+ rwhp 2JZGTEs

    Supercharging AND Turbocharging

Maybe whipple 140AX would work well. Flows 1274 CFM and many examples of supporting ~650 rwhp. That could probably get you a 1.8:1 ratio easily and allow a turbo for the other 1.8:1 pressure ratio. Also happens to be a lot more effcient than roots type...

    Supercharging AND Turbocharging

Warpspeed, of course not, lot's of things need to change. A 1000 rwhp 2JZGTE would need new cams, possibly better intake manifold, stronger rods & pistons, bigger injectors, etc, as would a 1UZ -and it should make 1000 rwhp with 30 psi. I think we are actually in agreement in some ways. If...

Update on Paul Carey UZFE powered Drag Car

Looking at where the extra 2 bolts would be tapped on the 2UZ, you can really see why this block would crack. That area is a bit thinner than the area where the two original studs are. The 1UZ has extra "meat" where the 2 extra studs are. I personally would not convert to a 4 bolt main on a...

    Supercharging AND Turbocharging

With 35-40 psi going into the SC, with a pressure ratio of 1.5 on the SC, that's 52.5-60 psi into the engine!?!?!? Something is not right here. Based on what we see with 2JZGTE, you should be able to get 1000 RWHP with just a large single turbo on the 4.7L at just 30 psi. Adding a SC, you...

    1990 LS400 Vs. 1990 Infiniti Q45

I had 2 Q45's over the years, a 90 and a 93. Both were maintenance nightmares. They are cheap to buy, but will cost you a fortune to maintain. They do have great power, probably more than the 90-ish LS400.

    LS460 Engine MPFI - direct injection -

You are thinking of SAE gross HP, which has not been used in a long time. I imagine the SEA gross number woould be a bit higher, perhaps 400 HP

    LS460 Engine MPFI - direct injection -

The new SAE standard is actually more strict than the old BHP ratings, so these engines probably make more than 380 HP based onthe "old" ratngs that were phased out in the last year or two.

    supercharger intercooler manifold problem.

Striker, since the SC is not on top of the V8, can you juts use a water-to-air intercooler that people use for turbo'd engines? You could probably locate it in a number of places (in front of the engine?) and then use any intake manifold design you want.

    supercharger intercooler manifold problem.

Yes, pressure will equalize from high low to low as soon as it can. That makes perfect sense if you all the time you need to that to happen. In an engine, YOU DON'T have all the time for this to happen. Stop applying the most basic laws of physics and ingoring the other hundreds of laws that...

    supercharger intercooler manifold problem.

Pressure will not "equal out" to all cylinders. That is a myth. David, the supercharger you describe is how the Tundra V8 chargers are mounted. It works best when the intake ports ate nearly verticle. There's also some pics out on the net somehere of a 3UZ with a twinscrew mounted...

    N/A or FI?

My vote is for a 4.0 1UZ, lower comp pistons, S/C intake from down under, and a whipple 140AX twin screw. Should be able to do 500 rwhp / 500 tq very easily, with tons of low end power.

    Obdii

Actually I think the first required year was 1996. California might be different (earlier). Many 1995 cars starting getting OBDII I guess becuase it best suited the car company's schedule for roll-out.

    Cams with VVT-i

You might have less low end power than the stock vvti cams, but you would probably have lots of gains elsewhere, including mid-range. Eventually I would like to do this, and personally, I would have the intake cam less agressive than the exhaust cam, since its timing can be varied.

    Direct Injection?

Don't the new Toyota V8's have direct injection anyway? Why bother modifying the older 1UZ's when it's probably cheaper to get a used, newest gen motor. I do happen to think the direct injection can get you more HP (just a little) because you can inject fuel after the intake valve has closed...
