    Project Thread Supercharged Supra

I would consider just using race gas and no meth/water to simplify the whole thing (for now). 190 degrees is a little on the hot side, but IMO not enough, with the right octane gasoline, to be such a problem. There has to be something else going on. Is it possible to run without the...

    They use either a 3.5 V6 or a 4.6 V8 now

Standalone ECU AEM EMS driving UZ's

Thanks Mitch! I will definitely take a look at this.

Standalone ECU AEM EMS driving UZ's

Mitch, I would love to have a base map, especially one that includes the vvti maps. I'll be using a cable driven throttle and 6 manual tranny, so no worries there for me.

    3URFE Engine Exposed

Nice pics. Is the rear engine flange the same as 1/2/3UZ, or is it completely different?

    6 speed Getrag swap into a supercharged 97 SC400

FWIW, the 2JZ had a damper on the tensioner IMO for this reason. Only the manual tranny cars got it.

    1UZ Vs. 2UZ HP & TQ

While we're on the topic of forged, are the group buy rods powder forged or "manly man" forged?

    1UZ Vs. 2UZ HP & TQ

non-vvti 2UZ motors don't have dual runner length intake manifolds either which probably makes a difference. However, IMO, cams are the biggest difference.

Standalone ECU Standalone for Dual VVTi

Why not use the OEM computer for this? You could control that nice 6 speed auto as well. They are reprogramming these ECUs for the TRD supercharger, so it sounds like to possibility to alter their tuning already exists.

    Fully Variable Valve Actuation

Infiniti has infinitely variable valve lift, too, on their 3.7 liter V6. Throttle valve no longer needed :)

    5.7L Tundra

Also, intake & exhaust cams are controlled differently. One set has some sort of direct electronic control, while the other set uses the standard oil pressure method to change phase.

Thanks for the pics. I think it's missing a bit too much for me to pull the trigger.

Rear sump :) You are making this more and more tempting. I would love to see pictures

Parts 5.7 Shortblock (3UR-FE) and Longblock (3UR-FE) Avialable.

I am thinking this motor would look nice in my Supra :) The tranny adapter should work, but I would have to see if the flywheel is the same (I bet it has the same flywheel). Then there's the oil pan sump location; I would probably need to make a custom sump. Biggest issue would be the cost...

Parts 5.7 Shortblock (3UR-FE) and Longblock (3UR-FE) Avialable.

OK, so this is one of those engines. I wonder if the worn down cams affected the engine overall (metal bits in the oil). I am very tempted to buy this engine, but I have to wonder if in the long run it might be more expensive than waiting for an engine out of a wrecked truck.

Does the longblock include accessories (ac, ps, alternator)? What happened to the two cams?

    Infiniti G37

Z will be getting the 3.7 soon G35 coupe will be getting AWD soon John, your thoughts are what went through my head in 2005, and I ended up buying a 2005 G35 sedan sport (298 HP, 6 speed manual). Overall it's a good car, the the latest G37 coupe is much improved. I really wish the G37 could...

    Desert Prerunner w/ 4.7 vvti

I can't say much about reliability on the 5.7 yet, but I can say it's no slouch. I love the 5.7 motor in my Tundra. If the stock power is not enough, TRD just came out with the supercharger (with the new Eaton 4 lobe design, like the new ZR1 gets) and makes 505 HP. However, finding a 5.7...

Cadillac CTS-V fast/faster than Nissan GTR?

R35 GTR does it in 7:29 I think. That is a h-u-g-e difference.

Reality Check: Actual RWHP old vs new

Also consider that a lot of these cars were rumored to make even more than they were rated at. Lies on top of lies :) We really have it good these days. You can get a Toyota truck that has 381 HP on 87 octane gas! And they just released a supercharger to get over 500! The 60's wish they had...
