Saying Goodbye to the Big 3?

10800 lbs on the new tundras. There's at least one guy on tundrasolutions forums who uses a fifth wheel hitch (I think that's what it's called) to tow much, much more. The trucks are really overbuilt for their class. 10.5 inch ring gear on the rear diff, wheel bearings sizes found on 3/4 and...

    Recession hit home!!!!!!

These economic times have really made me evaluate what's important to be financially stable: 1) Live below your means. Absolute #1 rule. If you can't do this, then you are not serious about being financially secure. 2) Minimum 6 months of cash reserves. In other words, you must have 6...

New Supra 6 speed [email protected]

SW's car is incredible. Their shop is just a couple miles from my house. Chris and Kean at Boost Logic really know what they are doing. For some reason the Supra seems to be really corning the market on those standing mile runs. For the past three years, at least here in TX, the Supra has...

98 to 00 SC400 VVTI (drive by wire?) YES OR NO!

In order to have the throttle cable fully open the throttle plate, you will have to take apart the mechanism and change the tab location so that it does fully open the throttle plate. I have plans to do this myself, but it's on a long list of things to do.

A Ford Pinto would be one of the cheapest chassis, but we aren't exactly rushing to get into one of those either. I don't think anyone is going to solve this argument. Some people want car A, some want car B. To each their own. No choice is universally "better" than the other.

FWIW, my current plan calls for 2 x GT2871R turbos, each good for a little under 400 rwhp. As far as I can tell, these are very very similar to the HKS GT2835R turbos I had on the 2JZGTE. I was able to hit 17 psi at 4200 rpm with the 2JZGTE, so I am hoping I can get that boost level at around...

Sounds nice, but if you are wanting to stay under 600 rwhp, wouldn't the supercharger be capable of this alone? I am not sure what your HP goals are... Also don't forget, you'll be adding another 70 lbs or so in turbo stuff.

It's his black car. FWIW, they are running 8.5 second 1/4 mile times (actually same car) as well. I guess if you get below 8.5 second 1/4 miles times, maybe then you need to worry :) Seriously, I think the way the drivetrain is set up in the Supra helps a lot. You have a very large rubber...

Z06 with n/a mods can definitely do 555 RWHP: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQnjrCZ8nUk Also don't forget the Z06 is 82% of the weight of a SC400. You would need 1/0.82 = 1.25x more HP than the Z06 in a SC400 to have the same acceleration as the Z06.

I would not worry about it too much. There was just a Supra in TX who has done 242 MPH in a -standing- mile race (the record at this track by a big margin). That Supra is producing over 1500 rwhp and easily over 1000 rwtq. Yes, 1000 ft/lbs of torque, on a stock V160 getrag transmission...

I say go for the TT Z06. There is not a TT kit for the SC that has the same quality, engineering, and support that APS has. Not only that, I don't see any SC400 of any modification level (short of a dedicated race car) that would hang with the Z06 on the road course. Perhaps you could build a...

Confusing issue on 2000 land cruiser with 2UZ

perhaps a wiring harness problem. Might want to re-seat all the connections. Other issue could be malfunctioning crank sensor.

A big flaw with the Nissan GT-R

From what I have heard, that's exactly what Nissan does in the USA. If the drivetrain is damaged while the VDC is off, the warranty does not cover it. When you buy the car, you have to sign a waiver stating this.

    Little advise on Ignition Coils

I seriously doubt nology wires would make any difference. These types of comparisons almost always involve an old, tired existing ignition system, compared to a brand new wires/plugs/etc. If you have an ECU to do COP or CNP, then just find the most cost effective way to do this. With all...

I forgot to ask about air fuel ratios. Too rich can cause a big drop in HP, and would help explain all that fuel you are using. Did you happen to log air-fuel ratios?

Well, it's gotta be either ignition timing or cam timing. I can see both having a major impact. Ignition timing seems easier to test :) What was the timing on the near 500 HP run?

Very nice John. Glad you got it worked out. The meth injector after the charger makes much more sense. If I recall, that manifold has a universal plate, in which one cuts a "hole" to match the supercharger. I wonder if that plate can be raised up with a spacer, allowing much greater plenum...
