    Cams with VVT-i

Why would it flounder? Variable valve timing is the best thing to happen to the automotive engine. The cam timing is set at one point to maximize the powerband. It is a compromise. Variable cam timing can move the point of maximum scavenging, as it moves with RPM. If you can control it with...

Have you pulled the plugs and blew out the water with compressed air yet?

    Help On Erro Code!!

The computer does not care about what the pick up ohms at, only the voltage signal that is sent. I know the repair manual lists those checks, but that is something Toyota needs to do better. The code is already explained, so is the likely cause. Start tracing the signal from the pick up back...

Engine Dies if not given constant gas...

Perhaps he even blew off a vacuum line with the high pressure.

    stalls

Typical stall speed of the A340 has been 2400-2500 RPM. A different engine will of course get different results.

    90 LS low idle

If the car sat a year, plenty of moisture has found its way up the exhaust.

    stalls

I think the factory stall speed is higher than that.

    Twin turbos or supercharger?

There is also the twin screw supercharger. It looks like a roots blower, but has a pair of screw type lobes in the housing. This blower gives you nearly roots type response, while being very close to a centrifugal blower for effeciency. Kenne Bell, among others, manufactures them. Due to the...

    EGR kit fitment question

Be careful with these EGR delete's. Toyota changes the timing when the EGR flow command is given to help with the slight power loss. Make sure you have good fuel to stave off detonation.

    need help with igniting.

14 means the ignition failed a certain amount of times. Too many to be exact. When the signal fails (IGf), fuel injection is also halted. To have this intermitently makes me think you have bad wire to the ECU. You could have a failing coil, especially with the age of the car. But in general...

    90 LS low idle

Toyota has an inuput for electrical loads to the ECU. If you have a heavy load, the ECU accomidates it. I doubt that is the problem. I don't know if you used OEM parts or not. I know they are expensive, but they are the best. I have seen Toyota's not start with new Bosch tune up parts. They...

    Sputtering On Acceleration

Pull engine codes. Good part throttle, good WOT, but poor heavy throttle isn't a normal problem. Perhaps you have a problem with the throttle position sensor circuit. My first thought is not tune up parts, but they should be checked.

    Thor Racing V8 Supra

It is a bigger engine. And with more cylinders, it will have more powerstrokes per revolution for a smoother running engine. I like it.

The Titan is hideous. While that is not primary, I could never get behind the wheel of something so ugly.

    1UZ-FE Pros and Cons

Why the insistance on comparing apples to oranges? What is this SF? All else being equal, the bigger pump will do more work. This isn't debatable. I am not suggesting using a carb or pushrods, only that the bigger the engine, the more it will do. How about that new Tundra engine. Toyota...

    Totalled My Family Hauler

I will have you know, I lost a Supra that way. I am still pissed at her. She bent down to answer her *^$%#'ing cell phone, and swayed into my car. Glad to hear you are ok though.

    1UZ-FE Pros and Cons

Toyota tuning at the time. You can't compare late 80's strategy with OBDII. GM and Ford both have tuning so that when the throttle is held steady, extreme lean condistions are set. It is much easier to keep the car moving than it is to accelerate. Toyota runs pig rich for safety margins...

    1UZ-FE Pros and Cons

And it still stands, all else being equal, the larger pump will do more work. You want to compare a smaller engine to a larger engine, fine I agree. But show two of the same kind. How about the Murcielago. It is the same size as a "domestic" but built similar to the claimed BMW. What...
