    Grounding 1UZ ECU casing in a fibreglass car

    In general, it's bad practice to mix instrument (ECU & low level inputs) grounds with power grounds and other noisy sources (injection, ignition, etc.). So my kneejerk recommendation would be to try and run a separate ground for the ECU and its inputs.

    Gloverman is referring to starting fluid or ether. It's something you spray into the intake of your engine to temporarily "bypass" the stock fuel system. If the engine runs on starting fluid, then something isn't right with your fuel injection. Here is one example of "starting fluid":
