i too have found it interesting that my UZS131 crown has what appears to be a kickdown-like cable (to increase line pressures?) as sideshow suggests, but yet my build plate clearly shows the box to be an A341E - which is supposed to have solenoid controlled line pressures like the UZZ3* soarers...

or do what i did.... spend the hour or so removing them one night, drop them into local workshop on way to work next morning, pick them up on way home, reinstall that night... there in saving a few hours of pissfarting around and only costing around $50 depending on how nice a guy the workshop...

if your mechanic doesnt understand that the CEL has certain diagnostic codes, or doesnt understnad what those codes mean.... then find another COMPETANT mechanic.

i would honestly like to know/see a few more people's results from the use of aftermarket ECU's on their 1UZs - with varying mods (not interested in F/I - i have a celica for that). The only two i have any real knowledge of are Peewee's and Pete's, with quite a difference in results from mods...

i have the ASG-614 in my UZS131 crown. Seriously if you are going for an aftermarket controll AFAIK they all do the same thing, they just look a little different and have different user interfaces. The cheapest option you will ever get are buying them off Yahoo japan or similar online auction...
