    I need help!

Zuffen the example I am talking about is a bike motor at about 10k rpm. People who are setting the squish under 0.9mm are having the pistons touch the head at redline.

Realistic performance goals for light build-up of 1UZFE

OK we will have to agree to disagree. When someone proves me wrong by actually achieving these theoretical gains, then I will happily acknowledge you were right, and I was wrong. Until then, I stand by the numbers that have been put down, and not "an optimum this should achieve that"...

    I need help!

I would think exactly the same thing. I'm just relaying what I heard. My thinking would be if the belt slipped and kept the cams turning, and the engine was at or near max RPM, and it slipped exactly the right amount to have a valve max open at TDC, perhaps the piston can reach.. I do know...

    I need help!

I think it was a Mazda now you mention it... I dunno.. anyway my point is, I don't see it, but Neil does, and he knows more than I do, so I'm prepared to accept the possibility based on me-not-knowing-enough.

    I need help!

Guys, I previously thought the same as you. But Neil Griffiths told me it is possible, if the belt jumps teeth and keeps turning the cams, for valves and pistons to hit. As I said, I do not know how, or understand why. I am just going by what he told me he has *seen*. There was also a V8 on...

Realistic performance goals for light build-up of 1UZFE

Exactly. The title of this thread is "realistic".

Well even so, I don't see how 335fw is 215rw. Unless your flywheel rating is done by Holden or Ford of Australia.

    I need help!

I REALLY want to know how you go with that radiator - please report back on the quality etc. If you don't install it, please ask the mechanic his opinion of it. I'm considering shipping one over in the next container from the US as a spare. I think my top tank is already starting to crack anyway.

Hey Peter, what has happened to Harry L?

Realistic performance goals for light build-up of 1UZFE

Stock dyno numbers: Old Viper 8.0: 52hp/litre My 1UZ: 48hp/litre New Viper 8.3: 52hp/litre 3UZ: 54hp/litre Not bad for an engine with 1 cam, 2 valves per cylinder, a lower redline and lower compression ratio.

OK notice where you have dropped 111 rwkw from your number? OK.. Secondly, there was a Soarer converted to 5 speed manual here and dynoed, and it LOST a couple of horses. What is so "power taxing" about the A341? Yes it is soft, but that is just the shift logic involved. The planetary gear...

Cost to build a 500hp FI engine

Well, it sure as hell ain't 18psi. If you can run 18psi on 98RON pump with stock internals, I'll pick up a spoon and eat your ass! Car. V8 Soarer. Finally had a day off today and I was out there hanging out of the engine with a tape measure drawing pictures :) THAT GOD DAMN FRONT WATER...

Cost to build a 500hp FI engine

Yeah I wouldn't get into that kind of refacing stuff. $1500 for a set of pistons isn't much. I just don't think either is really necessary.

Realistic performance goals for light build-up of 1UZFE

JBrady, 335rwkw is a big stretch of the imagination. Vipers with $10k+ US of headwork, extractors, exhaust, ECU tune, cam and rockers only add about 150rwhp over stock. As our engine is half the size, I would bet on half the gain. 75rwhp. 50rwkw. A stock SC430 here is hitting about 155 rwkw. I...

Uh... maybe my math is off Pete, but the headers only added 7 to me.

Methanol sounds right. You need to dump a lot more of it in, hence the huge injectors. Meth burns something like 6 or 7 to 1 instead of 14 to 1. tweaked, there is no way you are going to run cautious this, or retarded that, and hold 18psi at 10:1 compression on 98 RON (93 US) pump gas. There...

    anyone using Autronic

Rod, Who knows? I would think past 500 you'd be running up around the 20psi mark, and that's where most people with the distributor based 2JZGE->T are finding high rpm miss. So my guess is that's about the time you want to run more than 2 ignitors.

Cost to build a 500hp FI engine

tweaked, I don't see it. Run too rich and the car just doesn't run. If they really did keep the head on the motor, my guess would be they ran C16 or similar, and let it knock. Dumping fuel in the chamber just means there isn't enough oxygen in there to burn it and power suffers. Too much and...

Most people (well, there still aren't many) are keeping the distributors. They should be fine until you go north of 500hp. A pair of Bosch ignitors would do the trick nicely. I plan on doing this first, then when I know that all works, make a multispark CDI. Probably quite custom for the...

Dish the part of the piston that is not in the squish area.
