12 was the pick up from memory. Good post Gary. Have you checked for spark? If you have it, then you simply have a bad connection to the ECU from the ignitor.

For future refrence, it most certainly can. On a normal operating car, can you hold the RPM to 3800 and keep it there? Yes. So can a stuck cable. edit:Toyota switches to B+ from 9V under high load.

I have not yet seen a Toyota cam gear that wasn't marked to go with markings on the back cover. Look for notches in the actual tooth.

What is the listing for 14? I think that is an interuption of the pick up signal to the ECU. If it is, that is probably a bad connection.

Does the car move and simply not upshift? Or does it not move at all after the warm up?

Did you check the obvious? Make sure the throttle plate opens all the way and the cable is not binding?

Low fluid means you will need pad replacement in the near future. That is the purpose of the indicator.

What can happen to an old transmission that has never had the fluid changed, is the friction disk in the clutch packs can get wiped clean. ATF has a lot of friction properties, besides lubricant. The trans has never had service, it gets flushed and feels great. For a while. And the new fluid...

Are you changing belts? After the tensioner is released, there should not be hardly any slack at all.

The stop lamp switch disengages the cruise control. The stop lamp switch is on the pedal. If there is a problem with it being stuck on, your brake lights will be on also. If you are low on brake fluid, the light comes on.
