    Ferrari's 4.3liter V8 doubles the 1uz-fe hp output NA..

Prestige and image Thomas. Would you really buy a frari (youv'e got me doing it now!) if it sounded like a mass produced V8. The sound makes a statement doesn't it ?

    monster touque

For the same capacity, torque is not related to stroke. Torque is related to capacity, if you want more torque - increase the capacity.

    Ferrari's 4.3liter V8 doubles the 1uz-fe hp output NA..

John, As a general approach your cost estimates are somewhere around the money. Talking of Ferrari's, yesterday I was looking at a 1986 1.5ltr F1 twin turbo V6 Ferrari engine which is apart for rebuild. These engines made 860bhp on race boost and over 1000bhp on qualfying boost. The owner...

    Ferrari's 4.3liter V8 doubles the 1uz-fe hp output NA..

bango, A SBC/Nascar engine or V8 Supercar engine will cost around $80/$100k. They have a service life of around 1500/2000klm. At rebuild time the only parts used again are the block and head castings, the crank MAY be used for 2 rebuilds. Makes a Ferrari seem cheap! BTW - our 4000cc N/A 1uz...

    Ferrari's 4.3liter V8 doubles the 1uz-fe hp output NA..

Jibby, It is possible but it is not cost effective. A bit like the Rolls Royce salesman - 'if you have to ask how much, you can't afford it'.

Project Thread SC470TT (VVTi) Twin Turbo Lexus SC400 with 4.7L Toyota Tundra Engine

Glad to see someone is manufacturing intercoolers the 'right' way. Top and bottom tapered tanks with vertical tubes. The only thing I disagree with is the bar and plate core for competition use. The correct tube core will maintain pressure loss to less than .7 psi with very little difference in...

    1UZ into a VS Commodore

Justen, There is a 1uz auto box with a slip yoke, early crown I think. Uses staked uni cross but can be modified to take Ford snap ring joint. Contact 'Sprinterboy' on Toymods. He had/has my tailshaft from the Volvo.

    Blowing up the 1uz-fe

http://lextreme.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8431 Not everyone is guessing ! Superflow engine dyno. With std components, inlet manifold, valves, springs, cams etc, a 1uz will not turn 8000 rpm regardless of how much boost you run.

John, For a while there I thought I had exclusive rights to Murphy, sorry he is taking vacation at your place. Tenacity will beat Murphy every time, keep at it.

Standalone ECU New Pro EFI Computer sneak preview!

With all the ins and outs that adds up to a 90+ pin connector ??? And all this for $2500 ? Just how many functions can be used at the same time, and what can't be used if you enable a specific function ? Until we can look at the software and see what specific functions can be programed I...

Would anyone be so kind to offer some advice ?

I think you should lower your sights a little, 8500/9000 will blow your budget big time. For an engine with a 3500-8000 rpm range you will not get any change from $18,000 and most of that is parts and outside machining. Pistons - unless you have special one off pistons made you are stuck with...

    BMW V12 Project

Hi Adrian, There is not much difference so far as the engine is concerned between the SM4 Autronic and the M800 Motec. It really boils down to the tuner knowing where to set parameters such as injection timing relative to load and rpm, ignition advance at load/cruise, A/F at cruise etc. The...

Porting and polishing heads on the 1uz's..

I don't think anyone told the air that it was going through a pump and should follow different laws of physics :) Jibbby, We all learn by doing it yourself, you will never never know if you never never go.

    VVTI question

I assume the MAF meter is no longer connected. The Toyota ECU would need to see the MAF or it would probably go into limp mode. Get the SM4 to control the cam timing. The SM4 can control 2 camshafts with individual feedback. Your local Autronic dealer will be able help with what is required.

    Bolt securing pulley on crankshaft

Yes, was being a bit sarcastic ! If you don't have the tools to torque the bolt to the correct tension, then take it to somone who does. Just because it is bigger than a rod bolt doesn't mean it is less critical. Crank pulley bolt torque is 245 Nm.

    Bolt securing pulley on crankshaft

mmmmm....... I wonder why Toyota bothered with torque figures..... maybe we can use this advice for rod bolts too ? Do you really know why bolts are tightened to a specific torque ?

    Crown Oil filter assembly, help?

Just a word of warning to everyone, The front mounted oil filter head casting has a bypass valve. The filter canister does not need a bypass. The rear mounted oil filter head does NOT. It requires a filter canister with a bypass valve built in. Most remote mount filter heads do not have a...

    adjustable cam gears

Keeping ignition timing is not the problem. There is not enough room to fit an adjustable centre behind the rotor button, I have been down this path. I do have a design for CNC adjustable front pulleys but you can not run the std distributors. Kelford did make an adjustable centre gear but due...
