have you tested any electrical signals? Even the basics like power supplies to the ecu, coils and injectors when it faults? have you tested the operation of the main relay circuit when it faults?

I would try leaving VTA2 and IDL2 disconnected to see if it makes a difference.

Yes its possible without a suspension lift. When I do them without a lift I use a custom sump as its sump clearance which benefits most from having a body lift.

If it was in limp mode then read the code and repair. Limp mode is a computer induced failsafe after a fault is detected, a code set and the safety conditions put in place. Given your symptoms I'd expect code 14 or 15.
