Project Thread SC470TT (VVTi) Twin Turbo Lexus SC400 with 4.7L Toyota Tundra Engine

i love the idea Lex...i guess you are going to have to control the opening of the bypass unit so that it comes on gradually rather than in on hit, yeh? It would produce an interesting power curve, thats for sure :) I have pretty much settled on running a pair of GT30R's so will be keenly...

Twin Turbo 1UZ, but which Ones???

i think the evo's use TD05's, the GSR uses a TD04 and it is piss small

Twin Turbo 1UZ, but which Ones???

no no, thats definitely not for the titanium turbos! But for the normal non-race ones that float around (the makkinen really got all the good bits in it that evo's normally dont have here)

Twin Turbo 1UZ, but which Ones???

yeh i've driven a mate's Makkinen, talk about an insane car...i was taking it easy, or i thought i was! The turbo spools so smooth that i didnt realise how quickly thing accelerated and suddenly found myself negotiating a hair-pin at like 100km/h lol i have heard of some evo turbo's being...

Twin Turbo 1UZ, but which Ones???

yeh i was thinking older evo turbo's, since they are less expensive and should be easier to find (as long as they are in OK condition). As for what direction they spin, it really doesnt matter (as long as you have enough room to be able to fiddle with their placement!). Even a pair of t28's...

    22.3 psi @ 3806 rpm

yeh i see the readings on there, but there are no units associated with them.

    22.3 psi @ 3806 rpm

Lex, what were you using for these readings? Because vacuum is usually a different unit to boost, boost is normally psi, vacuum is normally inch/Hg or Mbar...your reading of -19.x looks like a inch/Hg reading to me, which would make more sense than a psi reading.

    22.3 psi @ 3806 rpm

the vac readings could be in inches of mercury?

Twin Turbo 1UZ, but which Ones???

yeh the WRX turbo's could be had for quite cheap, as people often replace them. They may be a little on the small side though, as most WRX owners seem to upgrade them pretty quickly. STi ones would be good, so would a pair of Evo turbo's

Twin Turbo 1UZ, but which Ones???

i'm thinking GT28RS or GT30R at the moment...the GT28RS's will spool quickly and have a great powerband, not sure exactly when the GT30R's will spool but it will have a lot of top end power. Anything larger i dont think is worth it. A couple of T3's should do an OK job, keep in mind the R33...

Dellow might make 6spd adaptor plate

the V160 can be broken just like all transmissions, in fact a good mate of mine blew one in his 600rwhp Supra

    STi Vs. Evo

evo's seem better built to me, WRX's have had problems galore over the years while the only evo model which had any major issues that i know of was the evo4 with its electronics. Prefer the evo interior as well, even though its just a tarted up lancer interior I'm yet to drive an STi, but...

    gtr gearbox???

thats just the point i was about to make, the evo's have tranversely mounted engines, so their drivetrain isnt an option.

Using Trimatic auto with the 1uz?

indeed i cant wait to hear the outcome of your discussions :)

Using Trimatic auto with the 1uz?

mmm see that power level puts me off as well, since i plan to have 600-700rwhp. And not being safe to use with slicks kinda defeats a lot of the purpose. The vehicle wouldnt exactly be light, so that factor isnt gonna be in my favour either. Regardless of cost, the box will ultimately have...

Using Trimatic auto with the 1uz?

i think the powerglide is a lot more expensive than the built A340 option though isnt it? Again worthy of a look to find out a little more...i've not been looking at the gearbox side of things all that long. I'm open to any suggestions ;)

Using Trimatic auto with the 1uz?

yeh thats the other option i am considering at the moment, and have to look into it in a bit more detail. The tailshaft isnt a major consideration i dont think, as even if it has to be modified this wont cost a great deal. It most likely will have to be modified in any case as the stock diff...

Using Trimatic auto with the 1uz?

Hey fellas, i'm currently looking into a TT 1uzfe conversion to go into a HX Kingswood. The car has a trimatic as standard, so i'm wondering if anyone has ever mated one to the 1uz? I was considering using the 6 spd supra box, but after a mate just lunched one in his supra i'm thinking it...
