I would say you have knocked a connector out somewhere. Probably a throttle position sensor (TPS) connector or an ignitor connector. or Airflow meter Check all connectors in that area.

Lex, Its has completely different operation to the A34x boxes. So no, they could not be run with the older stock ECUs. There is no reason I couldn't make a controller for one. I assume mechanical fitment is compatible? Did the 3uzfe change much is this department from the 1uzfe?

What condition was the fluid in? Has it been changed recently? For some reason quite a lot of import boxes have problems if they are from a half cut or just and engine. I have seen about 8 or 9 that have been dead upon inspection.

Just adding that its best to remove the sump and place the engine in the ideal location, right at the back of the engine bay and as low as you can go. Then make a custom sump/pickup. If you don't do this now you will regret it later.

For the TC34E controller you would need to switch 4 wires. to turn it off. The 3 solenoid control wires and the main power wire. For the Crown UZS131 ECT I am not sure how many would need to be switched. Probably 7. Some would just be straight on/off whilst others would need to be switched...
