i seen an e36 1uz in fast fours magazine a few years ago (in aussie), with cutsom intake manifold. i dont remember reading anything about it being difficult. as for swapping out an m3 engine, it would be a bit of a waste wouldnt it? sell the car and buy either a 318 or one with a blown motor...

damn that car is crazy. i have thought about a setup similar to that before, its nice to see someone going for it. few qualms though, such as the 75 degree v8 (if theres no width issues, 90 degree would be better wouldnt it?), and the inboard disk brakes (again, space issues i suppose..)...
