It is 9 degress BTDC on tickover, 27dgrees full advance. I marked the cams and I may have the marks slightly off. They look bang on static, but when I checked with the timing light they looked more lined up at 7 degrees BTDC.. Maybe moved when tensioner was put on? Guess to alter I need to take...

Thanks for the replies. I will use my timing light see what is says. I did check my cam belt timing a while back as it was suspected I had it wrong, as it doesn't like ticking over when cold. I will take my time this time and check thoroughly.

Finally hooked up a vacuum gauge the other day. At tickover the vac is low and needle sits in the red, a slight increase in revs and it just about goes into the green. The red says late ignition timing. So can I advance the ignition timing on the cam belt? I did fit a new cambelt when I built...

Hi Vince does the motor your working on run ok for weeks and then just suddenly decide not to run ?

Cambelt marks all lineup ok. Had all new caps fitted into ecu. Runs fine now no code. Just feel it is waiting in the background to get me again.

Hi had this code a few week back. Checked wiring and crank position senor.. Cleared the code and voila the motor fired up.. Still not sure the problem was fixed permanently.. So could anyone tell me what is circuit One? As code says rpm signal circuit one any advice would be much appreciated...

So engine is running again... Not sure what caused it to not fire up. can a fault code if not removed stop an engine from firing up?

Just double checked cam timing that was OK. Pulled and checked the wires and connectors by injector #1 couldn't see any faults. Reset fault codes ... Got constant flashing no fault light...??? All I did do was clean out the crank position senor connector, bit of fuzz on the dizzy cap contacts...

One thing I do find weird and may pinpoint the fault to an expert liked you Gloverman.. Is if I turn off power to ecu that normally removes the faults. Now it doesn't do that.. As soon as I supply power back to ecu the fault code 12 is there without even trying start the motor.

Hi Gloverman thanks for advice, ECU has had the caps replaced. I did fit a new cambelt when I put the engine together done 3500 mile ran like a dream, could it be wrong? I will double check. My sensor is Denso but no numbers on it, one off spare engine is also Denso but does has those numbers...
