JBrady - it's a VW 20V head. Wiseco makes the pistons for Endyn,Larry then hand-finishes them to get rid of any sharp edges. His 4-cylinder pistons run over $500 for the set (including rings,pins,locks).

Since the ID and OD of the 2JZ springs are different,you might want to use the 2JZ retainers. You don't want those springs "wobbling". What about using springs from a 2UZ or VVTi 1UZ/3UZ? If I have time @ work I'll try pulling specs on those model springs.

The Ross guys should be able to design a proper dish for the pistons. David could send them a head if he wants,my friend sent his head to them to make sure the pistons' valve reliefs for the 5 valves...

Should be equal. A friend runs custom Ross pistons for his setup,VW 2-liter block/20-valve head (one of the few who's done it) running high compression and alcohol.

A good friend of mine runs Autronic on his VW Corrado,it's the fastest and quickest and fastest naturally aspirated FWD VW,and the first/only 10-second naturally aspirated FWD VW. He has done Toyota applications before (Supra twin turbo) and is quite a good tuner and installer.

Anyone know if the older 1UZ and VVTi 1UZ/3UZ share the same bellhousing pattern? I'm going to throw in a swap idea...6 speed auto. '04 LS430s have them. The bellhousing fits the 2UZ shortblock I have lying around with no modifications. Any interest?

Thanks for the tips! The main bearings were shot. They just fell out and they did have groves in them. It seems that either a rock or somthing got in there or this motor was reved sky high and driven hard. I bought new king bearings...

Get yourself a Honda assembly manual (published by Helms),the 96-00 Civic one. The engine section is excellent and well worth the $. How are the crank journals and main caps? If there are scratches on them that are deep enough to catch your fingernail that may be a problem. There's no need...

That's not necessarily a JDM resistor box,you find those in 88-91 Civic/CRX Si models. I've used them before to run big injectors on boosted Hondas,but running resistors inline with the wiring does the same job.

You weren't kidding about the chrome look...how'd you get the buffing wheel into those really tight areas? ;)
