I don't think it's as much a problem with OEM gaskets as it is the fact the gaskets are already 15-20 years old before people boost them. I'm expecting mine to go eventually.
I ended up with the AEM ugeo as there's a mob on our eBay selling them for a good price (about $280 delivered), digital and led display in one. Very good quality unit with nice plug and play harness and Bosch sensor.

Yeah the sound is 100% from the headers themselves, not the exhaust end.
Like you said, pretty sure I'll eventually go for mild steel and just get them ceramic coated for durability.
Just wondering whether a 1UZ oil pressure sender will work properly with a Toyota 4Runner stock oil pressure gauge?
My aftermarket unit died and I was thinking of just hooking back up the stock gauge as I don't really need to know the psi of the oil, just that there is some.
The 4Runner came...
Pretty sure constant is no codes yeah.
It won't throw a code for a plug or lead (or even a coil I think) so that'd be your best start ;) Try some cheap NGK plugs to begin with, incase nothing is wrong and you waste $ on platinums etc (if you run them)
That last bit sounds like a concern...
I did buy some actually while ago, but only used a small section to try temporary shut up a leak.
Was meant to be good stuff too, but it started to crumble pretty quickly.
Yeah I'm conviced it's the wall thickness. I even pulled the headers off and pressure tested them, they had leaks which I...
I'm so sick of my cheap ass headers! The wall thickness on these things are like paper, you can gently tap them with the back of your fingernail and get a loud ting ting ting...
So when you drive (especially high load, low revs) they sound all tappety and shyte....
I'm thinking about having a...
I love the attention to detail, top build. Wish my wife would let me pour the funds in to the little details in my engine bay lol. Those hoses/lines must have cost a motsa!
Not as mean as a 1UZ with a 3" single lol! I'm not a fan of the LS sound, especially the earlier ones that struggle to sound like a V8. I'm sure I read somewhere it's to do with the firing order?
Generally speaking, a roots style is better at offering boost in low revs, but the vehicle will drive like it has a bigger engine, not like it has 'boost' as such. Too hard to intercool and lose efficiency at high boost/revs.
Centrifugal boosts up like a turbo and gives an intense top end rush...
I'm not sure the cost justifies it when you can get the Adaptronic for a grand. They can supply install details and various tune maps for the 1UZ, then you can set it to adaptive mode and it can self tune ;)
Top stuff mate!
So all the spectators just enjoyed people risking their lives on that lip, and not offer any warnings to drivers? They should be made to pay for the damage!
Any vids of your buggy?
Yeah it would become a wild little thing with an R154 or something. Probably not as quick as the stuff you normally work on, but still a decent sleeper, the single cab 2WD can't weight too much.
