    Project Thread Project SC400TT

If I remember correctly Cokey Bell's book starts off on the first page with a comparison between a supercharger and a turbocharger maybe you should dig it out of the closet Zuffen :) Zuffen what boost are you going to run and what efficiency and boost drop do you expect to get out of your...

    Project Thread Project SC400TT

With the car moving the intercooler will not heat up faster than the air can reduce temp. With the car moving the advantage that the water has of being able to remove 14 times as much heat than air becomes irrelevant. The air to air intercooler has an unlimited supply of ambient tempurature air...

    Project Thread Project SC400TT

I've done a lot of research. The bottom line I have come up with is that a large front mount intercooler is the best solution. Water is a better heat sink but a lot of the advantage can be removed by running a large intercooler. Once you take into consideration the other advantages I suggest...

    Project Thread Project SC400TT

I think the verdict now is that air to air is the best way to go for street use. Its lighter, cheaper, simpler and performs better in a lot of circumstances. In short bursts air to water might be better but if the water is at ambient temperature then its not better by much. If the water is...

How much HP out of a Twin Turbo 1UZFE?

The question is really how much power do you want or even how much money do you have to spend? If you want twin turbos and you want cheap then go for a pair of turbos off one of the many 2 litre turbos motors like EVO, WRX etc. The garrett T3 turbos are also a good fit.

    Which Stand Alone?

Many people that go for the 1uzfe here use the Link ECU's. http://www.link-electro.co.nz

To turbo or to proceed with Natural Aspiration ????

There's a power point where only FI will do. An LS1 + T56 will be considerably more than a 1uzfe + supra box.

Small Turbine, Small A/R & Large Compressor

I agree entirely. The turbine has much more rotational inertia than the compressor because of the materials they are made out of so if you can make the turbine smaller then its much better. That header and wastegate setup looks perfect to me. The path to the wastegate is straight and it looks...

    Cfm?

I thought a 14G was small? If I was going to twin turbo a 1uzfe I'd go for at least 16G's. The difference between a 14G and a T3/T4 at 10 psi is the efficiency of the turbo at that boost and flow. Do you have a budget to change the pistons and rods in a 1uzfe? If not I'd base your...

    Turbo Gains on 1UZ-FE!

There are plenty of engine builders here that use the 1UZFE. Thats why there are so many NZ'ers and Australians on this board. The motors are so cheap compared to anything else, like an LS1.

    Turbo for 400hp 1UZFE?????

The GT40R Garrett turbo is on the new Ford XR6 in NZ. It runs 6-7 psi into a 4 litre motor. Going by the compressor map its very similar to the T61. Its also ball bearing and more efficient but its going to be over twice the price probably. http://210.48.99.14/1_pics/gt40rcompress.gif

    500hp NA Emissions legal manifolds

Yeah I was talking about the overall package. It looks more like a race engine than a road car. Compare the intake and exhaust to that of the ones fitted to the 1uzfe road cars. The intake on a 1uzfe has a single plenum and throttle. The BMW has two plenums, a throttle per cylinder and trumpets.

    500hp NA Emissions legal manifolds

Holly crap! its very rare to look at a peice of engineering and not be able to spot any way to improve it. Definitely no compromise.

Master Power Turbo T70 Compressor Map

http://www.turbofast.com.au/turbomap.html What do you guys think of this? Forget the compressor maps, do the actual numbers make sense down the bottom? They seem to match up with my calculations. I've just seen that there is a T70 compressor map on there so it might be helpful.

Master Power Turbo T70 Compressor Map

Your theory sounds good the more I think about it. Have you ever thought about asking an engineer at a turbo manufactorer?

Master Power Turbo T70 Compressor Map

JBrady I think I was looking at what you were saying wrongly. Are you saying that in the case of the T70 that on an engine it might actually end up flowing 100lb/min INTO the compressor enven though the maximum flow is rated at 84? I was thinking you were saying that they were making 1000hp...

Realistic performance goals for light build-up of 1UZFE

I heard that they re-sleeve and don't de-stroke too. I think all the need to do is drop it 5 cubes so the difference in the piston velocity maybe very small. Would they have to change the crank if they destroked? Maybe is much cheaper to resleeve than change the crank. What ever way they would...

Master Power Turbo T70 Compressor Map

Thats all good but the 1lb=10hp is just a figure based on peoples experience. The airflow INTO the compressor is still the same no matter what you connect the turbo up to. The only variation is how efficiently you can convert that airflow into power. Perhaps the 1lb=10hp figure is not based...
