Is that a VVTI or non-VVTI head in those photos? Doesnt look anything like the non-VVTI head unless its had major modifications. The VVTI 1UZ heads are much improved compared to the non-VVTI heads.

The diesel trick works. Use about 1/5th to the amount of oil and let it idle for 10mins (DONT drive it!). Drain the oil while hot.

^^ correct. Same reason as why they heat the ISCV as well, it can also freeze up. I removed the lines from both the TB and ISCV while cleaning up my 1UZ. I also used a die-grinder to remove the passage ways from the TB and ISCV, so they look clean. Here in South Australia, there is little...
