Hi, Today I went to a major parts dealer to see if I could price some piston rings and big end and main bearings. And all I got from this BOGAN was a wrap on how cheap you can build a 600hp small block chevy that will rev to 8000rpm all day...for $5000. Oh don't forget guys, putting a 1uz in HZ...

14:1 compression ratio is way too high on pump fuel, I think the highest and most realistic comp ratio(for pump fuel) would be no higher then 11:1. Even then, tuning would have to be spot on. 14:1 would be best suited to alcohol fuels. Hope this helps

My HZ weighs only 1350kg's(with the 202 and 3spd manual), so with the 1uz and a partially stripped interior should make for a pretty light weight car(for it's size).

R-Jay, yes the listing was specific for the 1uz. Part No. 8MKRY9636(that's for high C/R replace the 6 for a 7 for the low C/R). And the price includes rings according to the catalogue.

I was in Repco today and picked up an ACL catalogue, and I was very suprised to see that ACL make Low(8.5:1) and High(10.5:1) compression forged pistons, they come in .5mm or 1.0mm overbore only. So I got them to find out a price which was "around" $AUD1300. Which really isnt too bad.

I think for the budget minded person wanting to turbo a 1uz, I've seen some at importers for as cheap as $400, definatly the R33 turbos are the go, quick spooling and should handle decent HP (I belive around 300rwkw) and like you said dont go boosting them over 14psi. Would I be correct in...
