    Cylinder sleeves

Good points, we all have our reasons. :) Look at the Darton sleeves web site. If I'm not mistaken, they have CAD files on all their sleeves in the catalog. http://www.darton-international.com/mainpage.htm -B

    Cylinder sleeves

I agree with this one. Destroke it and spin it until even the humming birds get confused. I've found more RPM/wider RPM band is almost always more useful on the track.

air intake tube diameter 98-00 1uz

Just updating in case someone needs this info in the future: I measured a stock intake as best I could without disassembling it too much. it's somewhere around the 2.75" mark (+/- 1/16") However, I found with a sleeve this size on my IS400, I was running air fuel ratios around 11.7:1...

Interest In Aftermarket Intake w/ horsepower gains

Those statements are more unbelieveable than anything on this thread... There are proven 25-35 HP available in a different exhaust/ manifold/header design. On a production scale, it would have been pennies difference to design a proper exhaust manifold and exhaust system that picked up more...

    Aluminum Driveshaft

My only concern with going aluminum would be the ability to have one strong enough for the torque. Is there enough room under there for say a 4" tube?

    V8 IS300 swap

You won't. The supra uses a resistor to ground (single wire) type gauge. Yellow with green stripe if I recall correctly. You'll just want to make sure that you have your two wire coolant sensor for the ECU of choice and the single wire sensor for the gauge cluster. If you need any...

    V8 IS300 swap

I do thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunatly, I have researched it pretty deep. The only 'solution' that would get it working correctly is to run the IS300 factory ECU in parallel to the GS400 ECU. Seeing how everything but the coolant gauge and trac control is working, I do not feel...

    V8 IS300 swap

This isn't a traditional gauge system. The IS300 and GS400 temp sensor has a sensor signal and sensor ground (two wire to it) This is all 'factory' for the v8 setup. The IS and GS ECU take that signal, translate it to BEAN code and then sends that signal to the dash cluster via the MPX...

    V8 IS300 swap

I used only the 99 GS400 ECU. I got lucky, *most* of the BEAN code is identical in the 99my. SO far, the only things not working are the traction control and engine coolant temp gauge. -B

    IS300 ecu pinouts

I'm not sure on the earlier ones. *most likely not* s the 02 went through a major 'revision'. I've found that toyota does things in generations. I'll toss up the 01 diagrams shortly. -B

air intake tube diameter 98-00 1uz

I tend to agree, as I'll question any answer I get that doesn't 'make sense'. I'm guessing 2.75-2.8" is probabliy pretty close to what is needed. I'll just have to try it out and see where my fuel trims are in the ECU. Am I the only one on here modifying the VVT-I engine? It's a shame...

    V8 IS300 swap

Thanks!. The transmission is a hybrid of the GS400 650e and IS 650e (5 speed auto) I ended up needing to swap several parts to make it fit the V8 with the IS driveshaft. At the end, I feel I ended up with a pretty bullet proof transmission that should be OEM reliable. As for performance...

    V8 IS300 swap

Okay, I'm tired of talking to myself. It's 98% done. I'm out driving it around daily now. Just a hand full of things to finish wiring in, clean up the patch harness and abuse it daily to see what breaks first. :)

1uz/3uz vvti mechanism description & pics

Just some modeling clay to verify the clearance once done. :) It'd be reasonably easy to determine piston/valve clearance on the setup. If I recall correctly, 25 degrees is roughly 4 cam teeth(28 degrees). Although, a very good caveat for anyone wanting larger cams for these motors. I...

air intake tube diameter 98-00 1uz

Well, since either noone understands what I'm asking or noone is bothering to modify the late model VVT-I engines, I've taken it upon myself to find the answer. 3.5" is too large. I'm getting 20% fuel trims now. 3.0" tube had 7.8% fuel trims. I'll track down something like a 3" OD...

    IS300 ecu pinouts

This is for an 02 model US spec car: http://bedellracing.home.comcast.net/misc/02IS300Pinout.xls There is one pin that's not accurate on that. Pin B13 is listed as the CLSW, clutch switch. Instead, it is the Neutral safety switch on the automatic. BEAN network multiplex makes things more...

air intake tube diameter 98-00 1uz

Can someone with a 98-00 VVT-I engine measure their intake tube where the AFM mounts? My best guess is that it's around the 3.250" range, but I don't have anything to measure against. I want to make sure the velocity is correct for the AFM. -B
