7 PSI on a T88 is already a lot of air & power. There was nothing wrong with timing, we were running very conservative and also there was no sign of detonation at all (nothing on the pistons). Also timing doesn't kill rods. How can it?

I'll give it a try next project, but for the project of FastEddie (also on this forum) it took us like a full week of stress to get it running and it still was with a lot of errors. So we had to ditch the hardware. Maybe one day it will go back, but with the Gen 1 we got the car running quickly...

I tried it on a V8 and went 'back' to a Gen 1. The software like three or four months ago was really really bad!

I also think it has to do mainly with harmonic balances, however I exploded a 2jz pump on a stock 2jz shortblock. Stock everything (on the shortblock)

Anyone know at what power levels the stock sleeves 'go'?

I did some research and a lot of honda engines have similar bores as the 1UZ, now we just have to check the cylinder spacing. I think it's very difficult to find retro-fit heads for the 1UZ. Anyone want to help with research? Bore is pretty important but the cylinder spacing is even more!

I have seen oil pumps fail on various engines with comparable oil pumps, like RB's and JZ engines.

What manufacturers should I ask to make a flat plane crankshaft? I found Arrow and farndon in the UK and I also found Cola crankshafts and Sonny Bryant Racing in the USA. Arrow charged an arm and a leg for a crank (or two legs) so I'm looking for alternatives.

also they have wet sleeves. There is no closed deck or semi closed deck or something. I think you need to invest in a block guard to stiffen up the liners.

if I'm changing the crank for a non toyota/lexus unit, I will go flat plane. But for this engine it's just gonna be a cheap fix and 1UZ blocks you can buy for 250 bucks or so. Get the crank out, block to the old iron and done :)
