    Long and short term fuel trims are only used in closed loop, if you make the coolant sensor read low it will run open loop only. It will however kill the cats and O2 sensors pretty quickly if you run it this way all the time.

    Thought id add a pic of an oily plug, this is of a plug that has been firing correctly but the engine is letting some oil into the combustion chamber. If the cyl was misfiring the deposits would be wet, black sludge rather than the ash deposits that this plug shows.
