    EGR kit fitment question

Hi Leeky, I've got two LS 400 engines ( one 91 and other 93) and I do not recognise your egr setup. I've removed the complete egr setup from the 1991 engine as the engines are in kit cars hence no dash warning light problems. Are you sure the engine is a UK spec engine? Cheers, Tony...

Supercharge and turbo on the same motor?

I've just sold my beemer engined Cobra to a guy who had a rather tasty twin engined speedboat. He used superchargers to get up on the plane and then as the revs rose the turbo's took over to give him high end horsepower. I showed him the two Lexus engined Cobras I'm building and told him about...

    temperature Sender info required

Hi guys, Now that the Lexus V8 is running happily in the Cobra I'm just connecting up the last few wires before we start trimming the interior. I've spent many a good hour poring over the wiring diagrams, done a search on this site, crawled all over the engine but I still cant see how I...

Standalone ECU Megasquirt- sorting out the details

Hi Podge, I would also be interested in info re the megasquirt and the 1UZFE. I'm looking at running a Megasquirt as a piggyback on the standard ECU to help with fuelling on a turbo application so any info would be most useful. Cheers, Tony

Wiring Diagrams for LS400 Engine swaps

Update..........the buggar runs.......... Hi Guys, Well the Lexus LS400 I found is a scrapyard runs as sweet as a nut. Once I got the fuel pump relay to fire up and put some fuel in the fuel rail it started first turn of the key and settled into a nice smooth idle........absolutely...

Wiring Diagrams for LS400 Engine swaps

Hi Cobber, after a few hours spent poring over wiring diagrams we think we are there.... Your relay wiring diagram was a real help, many thanks. I think we only need to splice into the main engine loom at two points, one to put 12v down the engine check light ( cant seem to get away...

Wiring Diagrams for LS400 Engine swaps

Help, advice and opinions required Guys, Sorry to nag you lot but I've bumped this to the top to see if anyone has any opinions. I have read that the ecu is well protected against accidental damage caused incorrect power inputs. Whats the chances of damaging the ecu if I just decide to...

Wiring Diagrams for LS400 Engine swaps

Guys, The 1990 engine wiring I'm not worried about, nor the wiring of the relays and fuses etc as I will be using Cobbers excellent power board diagram. However, the 1993 engine is proving to be a bit of a headache as we haven't got a wiring diagram for a 1993, but we do have a diagram...

Sub O2 sensors are they needed ?

Based on the above I would say its ok to run without the second set of sub sensors as their only real function is to detect if a cat is on its way out and flag up a warning light, but I think its imperative to keep the front set to provide inputs to the ECU unless you're going to carbs and a...

    EGR Effect on Emissions

Guys, According to the govt bible on the Single Vehicle Approval test here in the UK I do not have to use catalytic converters on the LS400 engines I'm putting into my Cobra projects. However I do have to get the engines below the following emissions levels CO 3.5% and HC 1200ppm...

Sub O2 sensors are they needed ?

Thanks Sideshow, I was hoping that I didnt have to use them. They are the sensors immediately after the cat. They are described as being identical to the pre cat main O2 sensors, however the sub sensors are not heated. I'm not using the standard dash so I wont be bothered about error codes...

Sub O2 sensors are they needed ?

Hi Guys, Done a search but nothing has come up. Just in middle of wiring up the first of the LS400's , waiting for a hose so should have it running next weekend. Because the engines are pre 1995 we can run here (UK) without cats, and therefore there is an opportunity to ditch the second...

    Hydraulic Fan

If you cut off the aluminium lug that stops the tenioner fully unwinding you will find that you can use it with the serpentine belt going UNDER the tensioner. If you take the tensioner apart you will find that the tension is provided by a simple coiled spring which works well whether in tension...

Wiring Diagrams for LS400 Engine swaps

Congrats Cobber, I hope to have the first one of mine running next weekend or very soon after. If so I will have to break my vow of beer abstinence for the month of January I took with a mate in an act of drunken bravado. I hope you christened the motor in the time honoured tradition...
