SC and LS has different configuration. I believe SC is slightly in front and LS is slightly rear...

I also feel the GS has better technology too. 98-2000 is basically same at 1992-1997 with a different engine. On the other hand the GS is a completely next design. Love your signature: 98 SC430 How about SC470 sound? 4.7 VVTi lower.....

Depends on your setup and budget. Just swap and run I would say 1uzfe, but if you cheapest for the most power would be LSxx. VVTi is nice be harder to find and little bit more complicated due to OBDII.
