In the video I diagnosed a faulty ecu that didnt have a CEL output. No CEL is a fail for the ECU. I did a video on ECUs as well. I opened 5 secondhand ecus and all had leaking caps , this is how often they fail so chances of getting a stuffed second hand ecu is very high. Especially if they...
Yep. The one from one of my videos. Tested and started fine however I'm reluctant to sell secondhand ecus as they are prone to failing so they generally get a refab before Ill sell them.
The ecus are old and I condemn lots these days but only after testing. Recently wired the same ecu as a manual and ecu was faulty. This one was easy to test.
If two sparkies have looked at why have neither wired in the diagnostic port? Doesn't it make sense to connect a scan tool to check codes and live data??
My wiring instructions for ucf20 non vvti are $175nzd at present. They also include 20 minutes of my time for personalized questions. Email is [email protected]
I was playing with an obd2 usdm ecu recently. I managed to get the cel out but I think I needed to do some trans codes. It was a month or so ago now but it is possible.
Any high grade automotive silicone is fine. I use threebond grey which is oem or an equivalent wurth grey. Dealership might be the best place. I only use genuine parts there and same with rear main.
My my pick for the FJs is a 2uz. Might not be the fastest option but it makes a strong reliable truck which has good manners and keeps the landcruiser spirit.
I would be finding a known good MAF. Common failure so I have a test unit here for this purpose. Also checking live data , continuity testing wires and putting an oscilloscope on the signals helps. Cheers
2uz intakes are the same flange pattern as a vvti series uz engine. Vvti and non vvti are very different in head design and intake flange. If your 97 is non vvti then they do not interchange.
