front suspension
No the LS is a pig of a thing to remount into another car
SC400 is same as soarer also components shared Supra 80 series
all mounts are of the alloy X member so all thats needed is a strut tower and sway bar mounts
intercooler
Intercooler worked fine one the road but arround town and waiting in the heat at the drag strip it increased the temp for a short time
have changed to a water/air cooler which i run a ice tank for drags or a
rad and fan for the road
the shorter piping makes the biggest diff not...
front suspension
Used the chassis rails and strut towers from the soarer and grafted it into the PT uses front alloy x beam a arms engine mounts just used some Supra platforms to get ride hight lower
rear done the same grafted rear towers and chassis rails uses diff and standard toyota subframe...
whats happened to my photos?
Hi sprintV8
there was a whole build up photos one my thread but for some reason do not show any more
have asked how to get them back but no reply as yet
do not appair to be able to edit any more
Back to the drags
Youtube link
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0FxjK-lFYI
Very Hot day best 12.2 118MPH
still having traction problems
will try some DOT drag radials hope to get back down next month
Sorted axles
Standard soarer axle 26.7 the same as non turbo Supra MK IV and Aristo
Twin turbo Supra MK IV or Turbo Aristo are 29.3
so 20% more steel
Now has less traction as no axle wind up shocks tyres loose quicker
Bigger tyres are now required
does it never end
Fitted some bigger axles
MK IV TT Supra or Turbo Aristo axles are 29.3
standard Soarer or non turbo supra are 26.7
so 20% more material
So no wind up on take off so now get less traction as shocks the tyres more
best et 12.0 on easy start drops down to 12.2 if we get to aggressive on the start...
axle
no tramp just 10lb launch and clean break in middle
I new wind up was happening as the paint was peeling from the axle shaft
MK 111 is that ma70? has different inner joint than soarer dont they?
Thanks
Tim
rear end
Has a soarer rear subframe with a Supra housing and TRD 2 way locker
running at 450Hp at engine 525ftlbs torque 10lbs at moment
been told mk4 turbo supra axles are stronger but not a easy thing to get hold off buy the look of it
Just back from the dragstrip with a broken axle in the V8 PT cruiser
runs 1Uz single turbo R154 box and 91 soarer rear subframe with supra diff housing and TRD 2 way locker
have been told the Supra MK 4 turbo axles are stronger
does anyone no if this is correct?
Thanks
did 12.001 at 115mph...
Broken Axle
Just back from our local dragstrip
after ditching the air/ air intercooler and fitting a water/air cooler with a ice tank for the drags
12.2 112mph first run
then a 12.001 115mph
so whent for the 11s but all we got was a broken axle
Bugger
will need to upgrade axles
