    Hiace van up and running

G'day Gloverman love your work! I am fitting a V6 ecotec to my Hiace (Yep, it not a 1UZ as my 'P' plate son has to drive it as well for work and V8 is a no-no word for P's in NSW). What did you use for an air filter? Stock Hiace or just fit a pod in the hole were the stock filter can fits? I do...

    A Few 1UZ Conversions:

Love the boys work! I am considering converting my '79 2wd Hilux V8 to All Wheel Drive. More details and pics on the AWD Cobra would be unreal. I built a 2wd version of the AC Cobra 427SC 15 years ago, so your post really got my attention! Sensational!! Freddy

Can 1uzfe be swap on 1980 ke-70 corolla

G'day Fellas, I have had a read of the new regs on the Dotars site as I am in the proccess of doing a swap at the moment and have 2 more waiting in the wings, so I need to make sure I am not building an unregisterable vehicle. The new NCOP regs are pretty explicet, but you still need to check...

    Motor test fitted

G'day Gloverman, Looks pretty familiar, I am halfway thru fitting an Ecotec V6/T700 into my Hiace Commuter (work/travel unit). I went the same way, hoist the van up and engine remove/ install from the bottom. Pretty easy. I used a kit from V6 Conversions. Not really a staright up bolt in job...

    Keeping it cool

I agree Sideshow, we had much better results in the Sprintcars with the alloy units. The old school radiator is still in my Hilux 'cause it still works. I triple flowed the alloy Sprintacar units to give a bit more margin as cooling a 740hp V8 being thrashed all night needs every advantage it...

    Keeping it cool

G'day fellas, Hey Sideshow, your Hilux engine bay looks great!! Here is some ideas I have used that may help with cooling dramas. I have run a 3 row, triple flowed "fine core" (flat plates for heat exchange fins that have 360 degree contact to tubes and the tubes are staggered so hot air from...

    LPG on a 1UZ

LPG Injection Spot on Grega, Using conventional LPG systems on the late petrol injected motors has big problems. Firstly, the inlet manifold normally has only air in it. When you fill it with LPG as well you get less air into the engine as the LPG takes up room in the manifold. If you have a...

    LPG on a 1UZ

Lpg in 1UZ G'day Edz, I think Zuffen is right, start disconnecting things and the ECU may not like it. Another way to go is LPG injection. There are a few systems around. Have a look at http://www.gas-injection.com/ This system uses "piggy backed" injectors and the all the stock compoents...

Castlemania rod shop VS Dellow automotive

I have had Dellow parts fail. Went back to get it sorted, got insulted when I asked why the parts failed (I asked "nicely" as I wanted info just in case I needed to do some mods while the car was in bits), paid for the replacement parts to get my car back on the road only to find out they did...

    LPG on a 1UZ

G'day Guys, I found on my 4.2 Holden powered 2wd Hi-lux that it lacked after to 4krpm. It's drama was 2 fold. Fitted an MSD so it had a decent spark ( on point only before), ran 19degrees on the crank and 10 degrees in the dizzy and all is good!! Hazes the tyres in the first 3 gears. My mates...

    Is LPG OK for 1UZ?

Anyone out there actually done the LPG thing on a 1UZ for a reasonable period of time that has solid evidence that the heads will be OK. Have you got some more info on that Zuffen?

    Is LPG OK for 1UZ?

Also guys, my Holden 4.2lt V8 is in a '79 Hilux 2wd. I am about to sell it. My next project is my dear departed Dad's beloved HR ('67) Holden Premier sedan with a 1UZ. The HR will be a daily driver so the LPG will be the go. Good performance and $20 a week to run!!

    Is LPG OK for 1UZ?

You guys are all correct. The cast iron head Holden motor runs hydraulic lifters. Regardless of what's actually happening with the heads, it has been a very reliable workhorse and super cheap to run. I have had no reason over 250,000k's to remove a rocker cover, so if it ain't broke- don'e fix...

    Is LPG OK for 1UZ?

This engine was originally set up this way for petrol only. I went to straight gas as the fuel quality dropped off and the price went up. If I had intended to run gas from the start (built the engine in 1991) I would have gone to different valve seats as well. Speaks volumes for the flash lube.
