No it doesn't say why. But if you have been using the later ones on early engines I'm sure it's fine, probably just a bug in their website.

I have been trying to source an oil pump for my 95 SC400.... on the Lexus website it says that oil pump p/n 15100-50040 will not work, and that I need oil pump p/n 15100-50022. Visually they look identical and I can't find 15100-50022 except for a sketchy post on ebay. Just trying to find out...
