I swapped clusters today and I found the tachometer in the speedo cluster is bad and displaying the wrong rpm's. I still have a misfire though... arrgg.
Everyone who has responded is correct. Its the Igniter #1 that sends the tach signal to the cluster. Someone gave me a diagram. Alright, well if the tach signal is correct coming off the (DLC) under the hood and my tach is displaying something else. Does it sound like the rpm gauge in the...
I have a 94 Sc400 and the tachometer on the guage cluster isn't receiving the correct tach signal. So basically when I'm at idle (700 rpms) my tach on the guage cluster says in between 250-500 rpms. So I'm trying to trace it to where the problem is coming from. Thats why I am trying to figure...
Where does the tach signal come from? My tachometer is registering the tach signal properly. When I first start the car its at 750 rpms and when it idles in park its between 250-500 rpms?
If the timing belt slipped and was off a few teeth could that cause a low idle and or a misfire? I had the power steering leak already about a year or so ago. I replaced the pump and got a re-built oem Lexus alternator. I tested the voltage at the battery with the car running ansd it was at 13.6...
Well I checked to make sure they were all firing by pulling each plug wire one by one. Each time I disconnected a plug wire from the cap you could tell the difference. So that leaves me to believe I'm running on all 8 cylinders. I wish I had a check engine light. No lights just a very low idle...
I don't know the iacv inside and out so here I go. I have a low idle. The only thing I haven't done is replace the idle air control valve and/ or the ecu to relieve the low idle issue... Here's the scenerio. Its a 94 sc400 (CA emissions) when first starting the engine cold the idle is around 750...
According to the factory service manual the injectors are supposed to ohm in between 13.4 and 14.2 ohms. The first two injectors I have ohmed are showing 14.8 ohms? Is that too far out from spec? The injectors have 200,000 miles on them. Thanks
Alright. Traction control is nice to have when its raining out: ) But if you don't have traction control on yours this wouldn't work for you anyway. I'm just looking to get rid of it. Its just sitting in a box.
No, I haven't checked the coolant temp sensor. I'll try and find that and see if I can ohm that to see if its within spec today. Thanks! I willing to check anything you guys can suggest to check. I think I have heard of this going bad and altering the idle before.
The misfire could also be...
I ohmed all the plug wires and found them within spec. I left off all the timing belt covers and I didn't see anything arcing. I don't have a timing light so I guess I'll be pulling each wire one by one to see if there's any problems. I guess if I can pin point it to one cylinder it might be...
