LS400 high speed missfire since cambelt job

OK, while driving around the cel light came up and TRC-OFF started flashing for about 30 seconds... i just checked codes and got 13 - no2 cam sensor. I've read that this usually means the timing is out... but its not. Timing is exactly as it was before the job was done. I'm wondering if one...

LS400 high speed missfire since cambelt job

Also... when i fired it up the first time, the LH coil was unplugged. It ran arcing this coil to the nearest ground for about 10 seconds (impressive arc btw! prob more than an inch). This can damage coils correct?

LS400 high speed missfire since cambelt job

Car was running mint before the cambelt job... I re-checked cam timing after installing the tensioner a couple of times, but not since it's been running... will do that. The rotors/caps/leads are a few years old at least, i've never done them. Plugs are fairly new, platinum. Wondering if...

LS400 high speed missfire since cambelt job

Howzit guys... just thought I'd drop in here to see if anyone could give me any idea whats going on with my LS400 (UCF20). I replaced the cambelt, waterpump, idler, tensioner, front main seal, and since then the car has this weird missfire between 5000 and 5500 revs. Its very similar to a rev...

Help help. Just broke motor, what to do!!!???

Great swap, well done. Like stevechumo said, give your 5spd trans a couple of mods to make it shift harder (also protects the clutches). It'll make a night and day difference - esp if you've already got a beefy torque converter. Check this thread for a dirt cheap mod for the a340 1-2 and 2-3...

    who has played with cams???

Ten points for effort, but there are so many flaws in that dudes site. Kelford's are pretty well qualified to give good advice and products for the 1uz. The guy that mentioned his valve springs were binding before full lift, that doesn't sound like a mistake kelfords would make to me - you...

    Replacing the cam cover breather

seconded... but If you can introduce some crankcase vacuum the engine will run better. If you vent the cam covers straight to atmosphere (thru a vented can) the best you can possibly hope for is 0psi crankcase pressure no matter what the throttle position. If you vent the cam covers to a...

    3S-GTE heads on 1UZ-FE?

I remember hearing about Jun in japan doing a 1uz with some 20v 4age heads, so i guess the chambers lined up ok. There would still have been some big work involved in re-locating the cam gears though. A blacktop 20v head/intake is about as good as they get. For the time/effort involved though...

    Transforming America

I like your politically charged posts JBrady The public thinks people get elected to make changes. But the reality is, people get elected to keep things the same

    Hard starting

Glad you got it sussed. For anyone else looking, fuel o-rings are very commonly used in marine applications also. If you have a decent marine workshop around (mercury, evinrude, yamaha etc), go raid their O-ring stash :)

    AWD Supra

ten points for originality and build quality (suspension - wow)... but i dont get the reasons for some parts of that build... That engine plus the front driveline would have made that supra pretty nose heavy, it will already be more inclined to understeer with awd, plus more weight forward...
