    Project MV8R a V8 into a 1991-1999 MR2

GTE, I did not see the pic, as it is not working now. if you want to mount the engine transversely using the F40, you will need an adaptor plate, which will add even more length (actually width) to your drivetrain. If your 1uZ is 24" and the F40 is 14.3", then add another .5 to 1.0 inches...

    MR2 SW20 V8 swap

Project MV8R update: Engine is pretty much mounted. I am waiting on some urethane bushings to install into the passenger side mount, otherwise, i would be done with the motor mounts. The car now supports about 2/3's of the weight of the engine and trans. The front motor mount, and rear motor...

    Project MV8R a V8 into a 1991-1999 MR2

I have not shaved it. It bolts up to the N* with the exception of one bolt, which is misaligned by 1" or so. THis is easy to accomodate with a fabbed steel bracket. No machining is required even for the fabbed bracket, just a little welding, and drill two holes, and now all bolts are used...

    MR2 SW20 V8 swap

I think I went over it in my newsletter. It has an available strong manual transaxle that will bolt up, and it presented the least amount of compromises and had the easiest/cheapest problems to solve in using it. Please note that I do not mean it was cheap and easy, i mean it was cheaper/easier...

The stock Audi ABZ V8 has the TB on the back. So does the Northstar.

    Project MV8R a V8 into a 1991-1999 MR2

Please do! I really would like to see video of the car, while its running/driving, both outside and in-car. i have a sister build thread on Motorgeek (audi tuning forum). Photos of Mike's car start at: Thu Dec 11, 2008 5:35 pm...

    Project MV8R a V8 into a 1991-1999 MR2

Thank you for the comments. I did consider doing a SARD type of MR2. I decided against it. The reason I rejected the idea was because it would take huge amounts of engineering and work to cut the car like that, and add the tube frames. I think (speculating here) that the SARD used a tube...

Oh yeah, you Aussies may not be aware of Bill Strong's car (he also owns the MR2OC.com forum). Check out his site at www.v8mr2.com

    Project MV8R a V8 into a 1991-1999 MR2

I have seen the build thread for the 1UZ powered Mark1. He used extensive tube framing in the rear of the car. He also moved the hubs out which widened the space for the engine and transaxle. This is extensive customization and re-engineering of the back of the car. My goals are more modest...

    Project MV8R a V8 into a 1991-1999 MR2

Check out Mike_H's V8 MR2 mark2. His is the first one in the world that we know of, behind the MC8R. He went longitudinal. The front of the engine is in the cabin (he built a new firewall). It runs/drives! I hope to have mine running in about 13 fortnights or so ;-) Yes, East/West is the...

    Project MV8R a V8 into a 1991-1999 MR2

The 1UZ is about 26 inches (stock pulley to rear engine face, or bellhousing interface). I call this the critical dimension. The N* critical dimension is 23 inches. (584 mm). The Audi 4.2L V8 is even shorter at 20.6inches (534mm) !! Unfortunatly, it is too difficult to use in a transverse...
