Fixin the downshiftin'
I know EXACTLY what the problem is if it is the same problem like mine. When you hit the brakes, the car downshifts....My solution was looking at the trunk wires which deal with the brake lights. On the trunk arm, there is a wiring harness that runs up the trunk Latch"...
Will give it a go...
The A/C worked before. This is just an all of a sudden incident. I will check the connections to the A/C itself and all fuses. Hopefully something comes of it. Oh....and do you think it is possible that a "superheat sensor" can cause it to go bad? Thanks for all the helpful...
no nothing....
It seems as if when I turn the A/C to the on position, I don't hear or see the compressor turning on. I have a new climate control head unit and wonder if the compressor doesn't turn on, could it be the compressor or maybe just a signal to the compressor. All I got was codes for...
thanks sideshow...
Sideshow,
You rock. I found out that those codes indicate a inlet servomotor and a air mix servomotor can be shorted out or just flat out not working. How I get to them or what they look like is another thing. But I did hear from a tech that said the sun sensor is mostly just...
Well, I just went outside in to the garage (shade) and it gave me 3 seperate codes. It gave me Temp 21, Temp 33, and Temp 34. What could those be and what is my next step towards getting my air cold again. Thanks for all that reply.
More A/c questions...
Thanks for the reply... The tech did in fact check it in the shop. (shade). But what really fumbled me was that he said he would have to rip the dash out to get to the sun sensor. He wanted to charge $760 to do it and then told me it might not fix the problem. I am NOT...
Hi Guys,
I took my car to a tech to find out what the problem was with my A/C. It blows vent air but no A/C. When he held down the Climate control face to find out what codes it was throwing it said it was a "temp 21". Which he said was a sun sensor. In my mind the A/C should still work manually...
I was right off of Painter Ave..
You can acually go to Longo Lexus and get that part very cheap. It is not the part that is exspensive. It is when you pay their guys to install it. It is not a hard fix as I have done 2 in the past. Add 4-6 Becks to the mix and it should only take you 30 minutes...
to your temp question...
To be honest, that didn't occur to me. Mine was just the faulty wiring under the trunk lid. If it gets too deep, I usually just take mine to a Lexus dealer and take it up the @#$. But when it's all said and done, they give you a loaner car and you get your car back with...
regarding your downshift problem
I had the EXACT same problem with my 92 LS400. After a while the old parts just "go" and it is the smallest, most unbelievable causes for the problems. My brother is a master tech for the Audi S groups and he has a partner that owns 4 Ls400's. The problem that...
You New "old" 97....
I can tell you right now that the Ls400 is the best car you will ever own. Even if and when you put money into it, it returns the favor 10 fold. I have a 1992 Ls400 with 250,000 miles on it and it is by far the SMOOTHEST running vehicle I have ever owned. When I first got...
